Can anyone recommend countries that are inherently Paleo-friendly?

I'm in Colombia right now working for a month. I was a little nervous about sticking to my diet while traveling but it has been pretty amazing: all of their beef is 100% free range and grass fed. It's awesome to walk into any supermarket and know that any package of beef, carton of milk, or wedge of cheese is grass fed. I wonder, what other parts of the world might be like this?

Check this similar one also: paleohacks.com/questions/108/good-paleo-countries and others under the tags "traveling" and "travelling." We've got three different travel tags essentially. – Paul Mar 5 2011 at 1:17
I would add the other two tags to yours but apparently there's a maximum of five tags as I just learned. – Paul Mar 5 2011 at 1:18
Doh! I did try a search before asking. Can a mod close this as a dupe? – awolf Mar 5 2011 at 3:09
I think only two people have the power to close threads. The rest of us can only vote to close it. I put in a vote so hopefully that will get mod attention. – Eva Mar 5 2011 at 4:02

I live in Spain and it is in fact, a protein paradise. The free-range pork is like no other. I've never had a problem eating Paleo/Primal at restaurants.

I haven't left the country since I went paleo - but I can tell you that I had a miserable time traveling through Spain as a vegetarian 3 1/2 years ago. It was all meat (especially pork) and cheese and eggs and fish and olive oil. As I recall, things tended to be locally sourced. I couldn't find a salad or a decent piece of bread to save my life. If I went today, I'd (literally) be in hog heaven.

I've heard Germany is a meat and potatoes kind of place. But really, I think most countries that eat less processed food are going to be more paleo. If the food industry is not yet big and large scale, then most of the farming methods will also be more natural and more paleo. The probs start when everything gets mechanized.

I just had a patient returning from South Africa. He has psoriatric arthritis and was so much better: South Africans like their 'braai', which is bbq. No need to eat bread, lots of meat...

I would think a lot of developing world countries are very paleo friendly.

I have some travelling experience in Africa, and food typically is paleo. Although the Africans (well, those in the places where I've been, don't want to generalise) don't eat low carb, high protein paleo. Meat is expensive. Tubers, roots and plantain/bananas are cheap. But as a Belgian traveller, food genereally is cheap in Africa, so you can afford meat and fish rather easily.
