Since we're having a run on hygiene and style questions today, here's another: What beauty/hygiene etc items are on your bathroom counter or in the cabinet (and on the tub)? Skip the meds/vitamins.
Mine:
Toothbrushes (2)
Toms Antiplaque Cinnamint toothpaste
Tongue scraper
Coconut oil (for moisturizer and hair)
Burt's Bees carrot seed oil complexion mist
Rose water
Burts' Bees Milk and Honey Body Lotion
Kiss my Face soap
Aubrey Shampoo
Toms' of Maine deodorant
Water-pik
Boar bristle hair brush
Skin brush
Sea sponge
This is actually a much longer list than I realized, but omits some common items - no hairspray or gel, no make-up, no antiperspirant. I'm thinking of switching somethings out. Dogwood toothsticks (from the backyard) for toothbrush and paste, baking soda/cornstarch for deodorant. The rose water and complexion mist are lovely smelling luxuries - not necessary, but not harmful either.
My SIL is a nurse and highly involved in environmental health, both in hospitals (cleaning chemicals etc that make patients sicker) and home and personal grooming exposure to chemicals. It's an mind-boggling issue how much crap we are exposed to in our efforts to be beautiful and clean. The Environmental Working Group has a lot of info on this at http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/
We work hard to keep our diet free of garbage. How about the rest of our lives? What's on your counter?
