Hi there,

Unfortunately I can't seem to track down anyone in the UK that is paleo/WAPF friendly that is also working as a health practitioner.

I'm in desperate need of someone to look 'under the hood' with significant gut dysbiosis, hormonal imbalance and nutrient deficiencies. My best efforts and intentions have got me nowhere, and have probably worsened the situation slightly. After being shunned and ignored by orthadox medicine, I'm left trying to self navigate many issues, which I've no idea how to approach and in what order. I end up chopping and changing supplements, programs etc too often without really knowing what's going on.

Anyone know of anyone in the UK equipped to deal with some serious adrenal problems and/or other hormone imbalances?

We do have some of the equivalent labs here, such as metametrix and genova, so might also consider working with someone from the US if I can get the same lab work and supplements.

Chris Kresser is one I'm considering, although he hasn't (yet) written extensively about adrenal fatigue, but he does seem like a good guy that is clearly paleo friendly and utilises relevant functional tests, without ventering into the realms of homeopathy, crystals and whale music.

I'd welcome any recommendations.

in the UK? tell us if you find anything – oliverh Mar 11 2011 at 15:39
Yep there aint diddly squat! I'd happily study to be the first but have the small issue of 30+ chronic symptoms to content with. Hey ho. Not bitter in the slightest.... – Matt Mar 11 2011 at 23:06
Yeah, definitely interested if you find someone, I am uk based too. – Minnie The Minx Jun 4 2011 at 3:18
We are working to solve this problem very soon. We have a big initiative underway here soon and we will need all of your inputs. – The Quilt Aug 15 2011 at 14:44

Try finding someone on http://orthomolecular.org. Mostly WAPF-friendly.

I live in Ireland and have had a consultation with Don Matesz of Primal Wisdom.

It's 80 dollars for a full consultation and I went to him for vertigo. It's only been a few weeks but so far so good!

Dr. Briffai borderline crazy low carb. I used to listen to he's podcast for the other juicy bits but his universal low carb recommendation started to seriously rub me the wrong way. – No more. Aug 29 2011 at 16:18

I saw Liam Chapman in Hendon, London when my health crashed badly in 2008. Only saw him once before I had to move back to Sydney (two months of being bedridden wasn't much fun in London!) but he ordered things such as AM ACTH and cortisol (to check adrenal function) and RBC (red blood cell) testing for potassium, mag and others. He seemed quite knowledgeable, approachable and didn't charge a fortune.

Unfortunately, the UK isn't the best for this sort of medicine which is a shame. I am on a thyroid forum and the UK members have all sorts of trouble trying to get the right treatment and thorough investigation of underlying nutritional issues.

Additionally, these organisations may help you find someone (though no listings as such on the sites)

http://www.theoptimumhealthclinic.com/clinic/index.html ( I believe this is a clinic started by an ex-CFS sufferer).
