My question can't be answered (to my knowledge and ability) on search engines that I have explored: How much caffeine in a TEA BAG not steeped in liquid but simply CONSUMED as is , the contents chugged with a glass of water? What would the half-life of this dose be?

I don't think that's a good idea to eat...the quality of green tea in tea bags is very low. If you want to eat tea get some matcha. – Bread-Eating Beelzebub Mar 14 2011 at 3:42
Second going for the matcha. – Karen Mar 14 2011 at 13:38
Organic is important with tea, less fluoride. – justanotherhunt Mar 14 2011 at 18:23

I don't have a number from a manufacturer, but one of my favorite tea makers (Numi Organic Tea) advises that soaking their tea in hot water for less than a minute and discarding prior to brewing removes most of the caffeine content.

So eating the bag should get you about the same as drinking it.

Ugh! Sorry, but that sounds awful. What makes you want to eat it??

Not sure why you'd want to eat tea. The benefits are extracted by hot water in the brewing process. Plus, the tea in the pre-bagged teas are usually pretty cruddy quality tea "dust" vs the real leaf tea from the tea shops.
