I would like to find a fellow Paleos in the Shreveport,LA area. My friend Dave and I are the only ones I know of. I have tried Google, but there are no hits that are really usable. We could set up a local meet-up or organize some other event. I know we have a CrossFit gym here, but I cannot afford it at the moment. If anyone has an idea of how to find locals I am sure others would appreciate the help as well.

Well, I'm in Shreveport too.

I don't know anybody else, though at a coffee shop I go to on Saturdays (the naked bean) one of the staff mentioned there was a guy doing a 'caveman' diet. Sounded like paleo. I can't really afford CF either, but it looks like the local one has come down solidly into the paleo camp, so there must be more of us around.

	So how do we get something together? I am thinking of starting a blog, but it probably won't be just about paleo. I was also thinking about creating a Facebook group, but then how to get the word out? – eakthekat Mar 30 2010 at 21:18
	meetup.com works pretty well because it goes by zip code. I think that a Primal Blueprint group in Seattle uses meetup. I've been a member of various meetup groups and it seems like a good way to get local folks together for a common interest. – Suzan Mar 30 2010 at 22:29

Try adding the local Crossfit gym as a facebook friend. Then start talking to the people that are friends with the gym.

I don't know your current financial situation but most CF gyms offer some incentives for students or military. I have heard of a few that will let you work for memberships as well.
