Like Eddie Murphy's mother made him a home-made greasy hamburger with square Wonder Bread instead of taking him to McDonald's, do you have any paleo recipes that you make at home to substitute for an actual restaurant dish that you used to order?
I really miss PF Chang's Lettuce Wraps so this is what I make instead:
Melt 3 pats of butter, add 3 cloves of garlic chopped, 1/4 onion chopped (or 1 whole shallot), and about an inch of ginger root chopped to the pan. Then add one pound of ground lamb (what I had on hand but beef will be great too) and a palm full of Chinese 5 Spice powder (more or less) and splash with balsamic vinegar until you get that tangy taste (I was trying to avoid soy sauce). After the meat just turns brown, add 1/2 c chopped red sweet pepper and 1/2 c chopped jicama (or water chestnuts) stir and remove from heat so the pepper and jicama stay crunchy. Spoon over large lettuce leaves and garnish with chopped macadamia nuts.
Delicious! And no soybean oil, soy sauce or peanuts! It tastes more Greek than Asian, but it really nails it on the texture.
