I really dig this site and I am loving life on Paleo. I am 95% compliant [rarely 'cheating' {though I could find a better word} on pizza or naan] and have enjoyed the weight loss and muscle gains. I don't feel great about posting another "is this specific food ok in your opinions" thread because I don't feel it adds as much as more open-ended questions. But in searching I couldn't find a thread that covered greens blends in smoothies. I love this site and the information and opinions offered here. Y'all do much to encourage and support this lifestyle change and I am grateful for the input of everyone here!
I have been obese most of my life and am making drastic changes to my diet and lifestyle in order to change that. Three times a week I do very intense workouts. I am very tall [6'6"] and therefore am 'supposed' to eat a good deal of protein in order to grow my muscles. I find it hard to eat all of this from meat, so for the time being I am using whey protein to supplement.
I know for some that's not very paleo but I just can't force down enough meat to make my daily minimum happen.
I frequently enjoy pre and post workout smoothies, and I often like to throw in a scoop or two of this Amazing Grass brand chocolate 'superfood' in there. It doesn't seem too terrible from a Paleo standpoint, and it really improves the flavor of the smoothie.
I just put Coconut milk, ice, chocolate greens blend and Jarrows 100% Whey Protein [no fillers or additives].
Is this something that could potentially curb my fat loss? Sometimes a smoothie is the only way I can get my early morning protein [having read somewhere that protein within 30 minutes makes a big difference in encouraging weight loss].
So, what say you fellow hackers? Are greens blends kosher for paleos?
