Possible Duplicate:
‘Organic’ fruits and vegetables, which are worth the money?

I've heard some organic pesticides are at least as bad as conventional, but I really have no evidence to back that up. Most of the information I've found seems to be heavily biased as well. Does anyone have concrete evidence as to why organic is better? Or is it not as good or safe as its been marketed to be?

That question is assuming organic is better. I am asking if it actually is superior to conventional. – mari Apr 7 2011 at 1:09
I agree, I think the question is distinct enough and should be re-opened. – Marina Apr 7 2011 at 1:24
I edited question to remove duplication and made it more specifically about organic pest control, then re-opened. – Ed Apr 7 2011 at 2:18

I go by the "Dirty Dozen" list and just try and buy organic of the stuff that is the worst when not bought organic.

I am specifically asking if organic is better though. Are organic pesticides really any better? I buy organic too, but I'm wondering if it's worth it. – mari Apr 7 2011 at 1:14
Note: Melissa was answering an earlier edit of the question, which was more about cost vs benefits. Her answer was a good one, and apropos; +1 – Ed Apr 7 2011 at 2:24

I use diatomaceous earth a pest control on my garden. It is the only "pesticide" that I know of that is edible and non-toxic.

Two years ago I used diatmaceous earth and boric acid to get rid of a nasty bedbug problem that Orkin could not resolve in six visits to our home. – Dave S. Apr 7 2011 at 12:44
