I'm getting canned coconut milk in BPA-free cans and doing my best to scrutinize ingredients lists in other canned varieties.
But my largest offender is canned tomatoes. Tomatoes are A PAIN IN THE REAR for me to process manually, just because I don't use them often and they usually go bad before I get around to doing so. Buying a can is just 1000% easier. I made really delicious guac last night with some canned tomatoes, for instance. I always make sure to check the ingredients, no added sugar, etc. Unfortunately salt is sort of inevitable, and the only "preservative" I've found in recent purchases is citric acid, which I know is just to prevent oxidation.
Is this totally against the "paleo" spirit or is my ingredient-diligence acceptable as long as its only a once in a while thing?
