It's true, Paleo friends, I drank too much wine last night. I've stopped taking Tylenol because of concerns about liver damage, and I'm trying to stick with LC Paleo for weight-loss, so I'm interested to know if any of you have hangover cures (yes, I'm drinking water) or awesome hangover snacks? I'm craving pizza something fierce. And cheeseburgers. And chocolate croissants.

Unfortunately, as a musician I am WELL qualified to answer hangover questions! Short ribs braised in red wine! With a gravy high in gelatin! Unfortunately, that takes about 4-5 hours to put together, so hopefully you have some leftover... Failing that:
Feel better! |

Same thing happened to me on Saturday morning, so I went for a 30 minute run. Yeah, the run sucked and I felt like ass during it, but afterwards I felt 10 feet tall and bulletproof. |

Good idea to avoid Tylenol, alcohol and Tylenol are a 1-2 punch to your liver. I would drink plenty of green tea, take a long slow run or walk, drink more water and a take a very long shower. |

My foolproof hanging prevention (and cure) is as follows - taken while ingesting, before bed, or upon waking - though prior to sleep is ideal: • something fatty (brisket or fage...brisket preferred) • something high in B vites (I use Jigsaw Active B complex as I don't eat most organ meats...though I know I should eat them) • electrolytes - a little calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium
• 8 or so oz water • motrin if sleep deprivation is expected, I'll use it to prevent the sleep deprivation headache. will also use in cases of "red wine headache" which can unfortunately occur for me with specific red wines at even lower intake levels (ie 2 oz) ETA: not sure why some of the text is showing up in a brownish-red on my monitor. thoughts? |

I hate to be "that girl," but weed really does work some medicinal miracles, especially the morning after a long night out ;) A while back, I read that taking a multivitamin prior to passing out (maybe keep it on your bedside table before you head out the door for shenanigans?) helps to replenish your body from whatever it looses during drinking (I'm no scientist; I can't get specific) and keeps your body/head from hating you the next morning. I have been doing this since because I find that it really works. I take a good multivitamin and drink a good amount of water with it and feel pretty stellar the next morning! |

Water and sleep generally do it. If we have an upset stomach too, then maybe a little apple cider vinegar or ginger kombucha. |

If you are craving something carby or greasy try to come as close to it as possible without blowing it. Often your body is just telling you what it needs. Have a cheeseburger without the bun, see if that helps. |

Eat lots of fat. Oddly enough, a bacon infused meat sandwich has always helped me get over hangovers. That, and lots of water. |

Alcohol dehydrates you. The only 'cure' is to drink lots of water. Don't wait until the hangover to do this, drink lots of water the night before as well. |

Apple cider vinegar and unprocessed sea salt in warm water (not too much of either) - homemade gatorade. Sauerkraut is also very good. After that, I heartily second the fatty protein suggestions. |

Chiming in to second what most everyone is saying: kombucha, coconut water, salty broth or soup, Fage Total, fatty meat. Feel better! |

Spice + grease. There is this wonderful Korean soup called "Yook Gae Jang" , which I make a big batch of and freeze for such occasions. You can omit the noodles or use Kelp/rice noodles. http://www.food.com/recipe/yook-gae-jang-korean-spicy-beef-and-vegetable-soup-204285 |

(I know, lots of the doubters will be jumping on me...but I did LOTS of research/experiments with this remedy in college...giving it to people, not telling them what it does, etc. Believe me, it works for "over-indulgence. I had (too) many people asking for my "pills" once they'd experienced the benefits.) |

During drinking: — Saturated fat (lard, butter, coconut oil) — Raw lemon juice (not from concentrate!) During hangover: — Water (lots of!) — Magnesium supplements — If available, chicken or other animal broth (warm, also a little black pepper would be good) — Avoid PUFAs at this stage — Coconut oil or fresh homemade butter will be just great! And, of course, do not eat any sugar! |

if you know you're gonna get shwasted, i highly recommend a preemptive B-spectrum vitamin. i also stick to the rule of one glass of water for every glass of alchohol. when i stumble home, i chug a couple more glasses of water on my way to bed. then you can wake up the next morning, ehem, afternoon feeling alive. and you also get the bonus of an extraordinarily long and neon pee. |
