Does anyone have any idea of how big the Paleo nation is and how much bigger we need to get before we can rival the buying power of other diet/lifestyles? How much longer will this take?

I don't know how we would figure that out. After 10 months, I've only met one other person (in person) who's down with paleo. She's my barber. – Carl_Stawicki Apr 12 2011 at 18:03

About a year ago I was traveling with my husband and got really upset in the airport that the only options available to me were bland chicken salads. Every restaurant - chicken salad. There were vegetarian options and vegan options but no "paleo" options.

My rant aside, I think we may need to jump on the gluten-free bandwagon and help push for more gluten-free options. Not replacements; but options.

I'm more pissed at the prices of food at the airport :) You're correct - we just need to be more persistent. My kids and I ate tri-tip strips and steamed veggies at the movie theater last week. People thought we were weird. We got a kick out of the side glances! – baconbitch Apr 12 2011 at 19:05

I've been a silent participant on this forum for several months. I find this change in my lifestyle easy to maintain at home, but it's almost like I am entering into a different dimension when I go out to eat with friends. I find that options are slim at a lot of restaurants, too. When I start ordering my burgers without a bun, extra guacamole, and hold the fries I often get strange looks. It's as if the world hasn't grasped the concept that dairy isn't the only intolerance out there.

Sometimes I too wonder what it will take for this lifestyle to be a little more mainstream. Then again, I don't know if I entirely WANT it to. The thought of "microwave paleo" seems a bit nauseating.
