This is not a duplicate question. All the other threads that discuss the rebranding cannot also serve as a suggestion box for names.

Please note I have marked this as Community Wiki given the nature of this question and its answers.

Please keep your answers short and sweet (meaning just the name). An exception would be if you want to make a comment about the name or some kind of short explanation if it needs it.

Here's how this will work:

  • Answer this question with any name suggestions you'd like. Answer multiple times or one all-inclusive answer. Since this is a Community Wiki, it won't matter much anyway.

  • I will scrummage through the answers and pick out the most popular name ideas

  • These popular choices will be the 'nominated' entries for an online voting poll

  • We will put out the voting poll here on PaleoHacks and spread the word elsewhere too

  • The top one or two winners of the voting poll will become known across the "Paleo" community.

At that point, the game ends. It will then be up to the masses to determine if the whole operation was a successful way to 'agree' on a popular new brand or if it was "all for naught". In other words, nobody here on PaleoHacks has the sway to pronounce a 'winner'. I mean, we can announce it, but making something stick would fall more in the hands of the big bloggers that we all look to for information. What they choose to do with it (if anything at all) will be completely unknown and unpredictable. If nothing sticks, then nothing sticks. So this will either be a complete success or a total failure. But you cannot have a breakthrough until you take a risk.

A couple of key points:

Paleo 2.0 will be automatically on the voting poll

Archevore will be automatically on the voting poll

Leaving "Paleo" alone and not rebranding at all will automatically on the voting poll

"Other" with a blank suggestion box will be on the poll

I didn't think "Paleo" was a brand. So rebranding it doesn't (technically) make sense.

On a less nitpicky note, I like leaving it as is. This flurry of name changes is fun if you're a linguist. Especially a cunning one, hee hee.

btw Kamal. A brand is often referred to as something you can get behind. A 'purpose' to support. It's a side skew to the most common meaning of the word. Paleo is in some ways a 'brand'. – Jack Kronk Apr 13 2011 at 16:00

for those who don't know, eating a pastoral based diet means eating animal based foods, particularly animals raised on pasture. a shepherd leading a pastoral life would typically raise livestock animals and move from pasture to pasture where there was drinkable water available. I think of the paleo/primal/archevore/ancestral as the Paleo Spectrum Most people fit into the spectrum somewhere, whether at the autoimmune protocol diet end of the spectrum, or the dairy consuming primal folk at the other and the vlc ketogenic folk off on another tangent. Most grains are out of the spectrum, though white rice is one exception that can slot in, for some people certain legumes are on the fringes too.

What can generally agreed is that HFCS, cane sugar, modern crapanola oils and wheat/gluten and general processed crap is not anywhere at all the spectrum

short explanation needed: integro- : As a Latin verb it means "renew, restore, make whole" which refers to the goal of normalizing health through diet. The verb can also mean "begin again, start from scratch", referring both to a research-based, ever growing and adjusting knowledge of diet, and as a bonus can refer to preferred food preparation methods. The root adjective to integro- is integer, meaning "complete, whole, intact" - i.e. the "minimally processed" approach to food preparation, the ideal especially when working towards the goal of renewed, restored, health.

ORGANIC LOW CARB is I believe the best description. Paleo is not a good name for the diet currently followed here since many neolithic foods are accepted (milk, dairy, bacon). But the vast majority here goes for low carb, and we all choose organic products, so organic low carb is the real thing!

Paleo isn't necessarily low carb. Just because most people do it doesn't mean we should all. Also, the organic thing is a bit silly I think. My vegetables aren't organic, but they're from a local farmer who uses the least amount of pesticides he can. – mari Apr 13 2011 at 17:23

when someone says, "Oh so you do a low carb diet?" No.... I'd like to call it smart-carb. i.e. only relative to the high carb diet of many Americans today is it lower carb, but really the focus is on the quality and timing of carb consumtion. Eat smart.
