I know this is a long shot and I know that if Grok had ulnar nerve entrapment, he'd be SOL, but is anyone familiar with any actual fixes or therapy for this, so I can avoid surgery?
http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=a00069 for info on the condition.
Save me a trip to the surgeon! :)
Not sure about your situation specifically, but I've been sorting out some similar issues in my shoulder...and I found the solution by hunting paleo (info, not animals). Robb Wolf's podcast led me to Tim Ferriss' blog, which led me to his book, which took me to an amazing guy named Gray Cook, which landed me serendipitously to a student of his in my home town in Nova Scotia.
Essentially, the common link above was something called FMS - Functional Movement Screen. A trained and certified practitioner can assess and diagnose biomechanical imbalances and injuries that lead to things like shoulder and elbow problems. I've been to a ton of physios, and no one has EVER found the things that this guy did.
Solutions have included ART (Active Release Technique), targeted mobility and strength exercises, and ergonomic adaptations (standing desk, better shoes...). It's been amazing.
Check it out. They have a link to practitioners all over North America:
Good luck - Chris
I just stumbled across this, so you may well have solved the problem by now. I would also recommend that you see if you have any osteopathic physicians in your area that regularly use osteopathic manipulative treatment (you have to ask--a lot of us learn the skills and then try to hide amongst the MDs and pretend to be just like them and lose the skills). But we learn how to assess and diagnoses biomechanical imbalances as well and have a whole bag of tricks to treat them (some of which resemble the active release stuff, some resembling chiro stuff, some more like PT...but we got it all). I find it to be a useful treatment modality. And we've sort of been around for a long time doing our thing, so I'm pretty confident you can trust osteopathic physician training. At least insofar as wanting a consult for a Musculoskeletal issue.
Hi. I have what I think is similar problem i.e.ulnar nerve entrapment. I"m hoping there is some inflammation/fluid there and by trying Paleo it might settle. Did you have any success trying to treat it with Paleo?
