I wanted to know if there was a good website to plan out a week's worth of meals. We usually do our grocery shopping on the weekend, so it'd be really nice to go in with a plan rather than aimlessly buy food.

I've checked out www.thefoodee.co, but the interface isn't as user friendly as I'd like it.

I don't know of any sites that plan out you shopping for you, but there are loads of helpful sites to go recipe hunting. I LOVE hunting recipes here are some of my fave sites/blogs for recipes:

http://everydaypaleo.com/

http://www.primal-palate.com/ - this one to me is like food porn :) I've made dozens of these recipes and they all turn out amazing!!

http://paleoblocks.blogspot.com/

http://www.livingpaleo.com/category/paleo-recipes/

http://www.janssushibar.com/ - just found this one and am making one of jan's recipes tonight!

I have Sissons cookbook and it's great - if you sign up on his website (marks daily apple) you can download the reader submitted cookbook for free and it has some great recipes too

Have fun and buy a binder to put all your new recipes in!!!

Thank you, Bree! I'm all blushy right now. :) Which recipe are you making? – JansSushiBar Apr 14 2011 at 15:50
I am making the hanger steak with onion and wine sauce with the balsamic mushrooms and green beans = I am excited, and so is hubby when he saw the photos! – Thumper Apr 14 2011 at 16:49
Ooooo - both of those are great! Please let me know how you and your husband like them. If you enjoy the green beans, there's a recipe on my site for balsamic-glazed brussels sprouts with pancetta. It'll make you cry. – JansSushiBar Apr 14 2011 at 17:33
Delicious Jan! Will be using your recipes some more now! 2 thumbs way up - hubby's actually a little mad - he ate too much and was complaining to me about it ;) – Thumper Apr 15 2011 at 15:13
Jan, the food pics on your site are gorgeous! I'm a cook and I always try to photograph my stuff and it never turns out (because I'm not a great photographer)...nice work :) – Lauren Apr 15 2011 at 15:24

This may seem an unusual choice, but check out Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking." Julia never met a hunk of butter, cream or meat she didn't like. Lots of Paleo-compatible recipies.

Good answer!! Love Julia. – kricka Apr 14 2011 at 15:19
Julia, the original cave-woman! LOL :) – Karin Apr 14 2011 at 17:37
Along the same line, I've found that our old Betty Crocker cookbook is pretty paleo friendly. It has recipes for things like liver and tongue. – Adam Apr 14 2011 at 18:02
When that movie came out my daughter and I tried to cook as many of the recipes as possible, I wasn't paleo then so I got really really fat. I'm afraid to go near the sets of books! But, knowing what I know now, and not eating all the grains and flours....it might be worth trying again!! thanks!!! – Kelly Apr 14 2011 at 18:47

Well, this site is not exactly Paleo (although I find it funny to say this since the guy hunts down a lot of his food), but I thought I'd add it here because it's such a great resource for lots of things (caught a salmon fishing and it has eggs in it? Want to know how to preserve the roe? come here) that aren't available at other sites. Also I have super respect for the author because he is as his blog is named a Hunter Angler Gardner Cook. If you skip over the grain stuff and whatnot, there's a lot of technique to be learned here when it comes to wild game, cured and cooked meats and such.

I am a big fan of Sisson's blog: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/

And his two cookbooks are FULL of awesome recipes:

http://www.amazon.com/Primal-Blueprint-Cookbook-Grain-Free-Gluten-Free/dp/0982207727/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_b

http://www.amazon.com/Primal-Blueprint-Quick-Easy-Meals/dp/0982207743/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_b

I've made many of these recipes and so far, not a bum in the bunch.

Hi Dirtdiver,

I did a post a while ago for a sample "meals for the week." My hope was to provide people with a framework so that they could then plan future weeks of theirs in a somewhat similar fashion.

I know there was also a posting on Robb Wolf's site a while ago about preparing for the week...

Meals For the week Paleo Style

Check out paleoplan.com. For $10/month they send you a shopping list and meal plan for the week. Be careful though, some of the items can be paleo-controversial, so it depends on how comfortable you are with eating those things. All of the recipes on there are free, though. I used it for the first month that I went paleo, just to keep me on track, but since then I've developed a few staple meals that I cook every week.

Also check out everydaypaleo.com. Great yummy recipes and she has a cookbook coming out within a month. From a lot of these blogs, you can find other paleo links... it's endless.

Lovin all these suggestions! I am also a big fan of everydaypaleo.com and looking forward to her cookbook which comes out any minute now (check it out here) but another current favorite is: http://paleoperfectly.blogspot.com/

The nourishing traditions cookbook has a lot of paleo friendly recipes. I reference it frequently. I also like my standard joy of cooking. I just stay in the meat, eggs, and veggies section and sub animal or coconut fat any time a recipe calls for oil.
