Am I alone here? Seriously.

Anyone from the Indianapolis area? Anyone? Anyone?

What about central Indiana? No? Crap.

Anyone here live in Indiana at all? crickets

EDIT: Well, awesome. I'm realllly pleasantly surprised! It seems there's an Indiana Paleo presence after all. I'm going to start a Facebook group at the very least to attempt to organize some Indiana Paleo enthusiasts into a cohesive community. Please add me (Nathan Becker) as a friend on Facebook if interested, and I'll add you to the group. From there, invite all your friends who have even a little interest in a Paleo-type lifestyle! Also, feel free to email me at nabecker (at) indiana.edu if you'd like like to contribute any suggestions, have any questions, or have any advice for me.

Gary, Indiana. Gary, Indian. Gary, Indian. Not Louisiana, Paris, France, New York, or Rome, but Gary, Indiana, Gary, Indian. Gary, Indian: My home sweet home... No. That's false. I'm from Seattle. – No more. Apr 18 2011 at 4:48
becker, are you in Bloomington or Indy or some other town? – JJ Apr 18 2011 at 13:15
I'm in Bloomington for now, but I graduate in a couple of weeks. I'll be heading to Indianapolis for dental school after that. Hah, lucky for you, Andrew. Gary isn't exactly like they portray it in the movie... kind of the opposite. I'm working on a meetup.com page for Indiana Paleo. It'll be a week or so before I get it up. I'll create or update this thread once I have it established. – becker Apr 18 2011 at 13:21
I'm in Indy now and then so definitely keep us posted on the meetup group. Thanks! – JJ Apr 18 2011 at 13:34

I went searching for the same thing in my area (St. Louis, MO). I started in the forums over on MDA. Eventually I started a meetup group at www.meetup.com. In one month we have over 35 members. Seven of us met and went on a hike in a state park just today.

I recommend checking the forums on some of the websites. Also check the crossfit gyms in your area. I'm certain there many, many paleos in your area. And, I dare say, most of them are eager to talk to people like you.

In addition to starting the meetup group, Primal Living STL, we also have a facebook page by the same name.

Good luck to you! Laura

That's terrific, Becker! Good luck to you! Feel free to contact me (thru meetup.com) if you have any questions. I'd be happy to help any way I can. :) – Laura Apr 18 2011 at 2:24

You're definitely not alone! I eat a pretty strictly Paleo diet (I allow myself the occasional cheat), and recommend it to all of my training clients (Lvl 1 CF Trainer here), most of whom follow it to some degree (a couple strictly).

Also, I'm a big proponent of locally sourced, sustainable foods... mostly do farm-market and co-op shopping for produce, and also get grass-finished beef from farms nearby (actually just filled the freezer with a side of beef last month).

The word is spreading; whenever anyone finds out I'm a fitness coach and asks me how they should be eating (or, alternatively, asks me to help them reach their fitness goals), I try to bring them into the fold. :)

Cheers, Frank

Hey there Frank! =) – JJ Apr 18 2011 at 13:10
Hey Jae. :) Yeah, I finally got around to making a PaleoHacks account. Next thing you know, I'll be back on the CF boards. LOL – QuantumFit Apr 18 2011 at 15:58

I'm far south Chicago suburbs and work close to NW Indiana.

I would be willing to meet 1/2 way for a meetup.

Yeah, I'm in Bloomington. We are notable for America's Shittiest Pizza.

hahaha Rockits right? Awful...but I kinda became addicted to it's shittiness. What's with the sesame seeds on the crust?! – Futureboy Apr 18 2011 at 3:32
I'm in Bloomington as well. Are you a CrossFitter? – JJ Apr 18 2011 at 13:10

Rockits... terrible. Mother Bear's was half of what I ate a few years ago, and you KNOW you did, too. – becker Apr 18 2011 at 13:25
I used to love Mother Bear's.... I ate there every week when I was a freshman. – JJ Apr 18 2011 at 13:34
Jae you went to IU? When were you there? – Futureboy Apr 18 2011 at 17:35

I'm originally from Indy, but I live in NYC now! Sorry!

My mother still lives in Indiana tho! She's on the north side of Indy in Carmel. She just got the Primal Blueprint, and her and her knitting buddies have gone Paleo. I think she's about 2 weeks in. I know she's usually pretty knowledgeable about local farmers/farmer's markets.

I've been trying to get her to join PaleoHacks, so we'll see what happens!

GO HOOSIERS! Sorry to my Boilermaker friends!

I live in Lafayette now, so Indy's only an hour away.

I've been shopping around for a nearby supply of grass-fed beef. There are several vendors in the area, I just haven't had the time to research them thoroughly. I'd love to hear any recommendations.

Sorry, can't help you too much. I only know suppliers in the southern part of the state. The Swiss Connection visits our farmers' market, and they have just about the best quality beef and dairy you could imagine. I think they're located in north-central Indiana, though I may be wrong. Check them out! – becker Apr 19 2011 at 16:40
I love Simpson's Farm Market out of Martinsville. They are at the Indy Downtown Farmer's market every Saturday and they take special orders. The guy is super nice, which also helps. www.simpsonfamilyfarm.com – HoosierTodd Apr 27 2012 at 10:07

I'm in Indy. There are lots of paleos on the police and fire departments. IPD and IFD have their own Crossfit gym (my SIL is an instructor there).

I'm in a Cincinnati suburb--not strictly Paleo right now, but getting there. It has been a long, slow process for me and I would welcome the opportunity to meet with others in the area. Thank you.

Hey! I am also in Cincinnati. Let me know if you wanna meet up!!! – coffeesnob May 28 at 23:36

Not in Indiana, but in a suburb of Cincinnati--I'd welcome the opportunity to meet with others. I'm not yet where I want to be...hopefully on the road to getting there, though! Thanks.

A great place to buy grass fed beef from is La Cense Beef. La Cense is an approved 100% grass fed ranch located in Montana. They have an awesome website and you can order via the Internet and have your grass fed beef delivered directly to you. The meat is fresh and tasty and the process is so convenient.

I am in Indianapolis and starting a paleo food truck! I think this will be a great way to service an existing community of Paleo/Gluten free eaters as well as get a few converts. I have a crowd funding project on kickstarter right now. Please support me by pledging and sharing my link http://t.co/GgavIUL1. Find me on twitter @cavemantruck .
