YES...here's my stupid diabetes story number 2.
So back when I thought I had it all figured out with my type 3 (insulin dependant since burning out my betas as a type 2), I got the flu. I thought, ok, let's not eat so my body will have more energy to fight the bug. Since I wasn't going to eat, no need to shoot insulin. I checked my BS and it was 70. Cool. I'll just wait this out.
Fast forward to 12 hours later , I am hallucinating and foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog. The EMS arrives, haul me off to the ER room. My BS had rocketed to over 800.
Later, I discover Dr. Bernstein and the Diabetes Solution book. He describes how anytime your BS is higher than normal and you can't account for it, figure INFECTION. Typically a tooth. Now if I even think about getting sick my BS jumps 20 points. Oops, I am up again.
