They're significantly on-sale at City Sports today!

(I don't intend for this to be an ad or spam. I just remember that when I was buying Vibrams five months ago, I couldn't find them discounted anywhere. This is a great opportunity for anyone that wanted to try them but found them prohibitively expensive.)

Thanks! My hubby really wants a pair, unfortunately they don't have his size available in a pair that he likes. Good to know that these guys have them discounted once in a while though! – Barb Apr 22 2011 at 17:04

not for first timers- you really need to try on a few pairs first, especial if you have a "royal toe"

Or a small heel, as I apparently do. There is no size Vibram that fits me -- they all have huge gappy heels. – Jennie Apr 23 2011 at 12:04

Tried on a pair without smartwool? Does that make a difference? This is a great deal!

Excellent post, I paid $100+ for mine. I agree, if this is your first "barefoot" experience be gentle to yourself. Things NOT to do the first time out: Run on the beach (my calves took a long time to stop hating me); think you KNOW how to run! this takes some time to get used to (Michale Sandler's book, Barefoot Running, helped me immensely). Don't think it's too hard. I ran for years and years, then broke my Lft leg tib/fib (I still have plates and screws), I couldn't go 1/2 mile in the best running shoes. With my Vibram's my lungs give out now long before my leg(s) do.

3 days for me, from running 2x200m intervals at a moderate pace to get used to them. – Ryan H Apr 22 2011 at 22:07

EMS is also currently offering free shipping on Vibrams.

I don't know link etiquette on here, so you can either google it, or if you want a direct link to the sale, I posted one on my site.
