I just watched the trailer for this movie Forks Over Knives (forksoverknives.com- trailer is on the main page) and while they're promoting avoiding processed foods, they're also promoting a plant-based diet and grains are all over in the trailer. It doesn't seem that they've even explored the difference between CAFO meat and pasture-raised meat. Does anyone know more about this documentary? Is it just another vegetarian campaign? If so, I'm sort of worried that since it will be released in theatres it'll become the next food trend movie (after Food Inc and Supersize Me). What are your thoughts? Any filmmakers here on paleohacks want to make a paleo docu?

I watched a trailer and it does look like just a bunch of vegan propaganda. They didn't mention processed food in the trailer and insinuated heavily that meat kills you dead completely and utterly and is at the root of all disease. Nope, sugar, seed oils and industrial wheat only play minor roles in China's problems, it's all the meat. I mean meat went up and they're dying, right? Oh boy. Isolate your variables you withered charlatans. I should hope that they dissuade people from processed foods but it is transparent what they're doing. Get people off of junk food and animal products simultaneously and then say any improvements in health were mainly due to the lack of meat. Combine that with inane, cherry-picked epidemiology that doesn't even support their conclusions nor could it ever support a conclusion and you have a recipe for intellectual bankruptcy. If there was a paleo documentary it would have to be non-sleazy, aight? |

Unfortunately, I'd say it's vegan propaganda. The ideas seem to come right out of T. Colin Campbell's book the China Study. Someone definitely needs to make a good Paleo documentary although the movie Fat-head did illustrate some of it. |

Also known as: The China Study: The Movie. I'm not a filmmaker per se, but I have a camera and I've always wanted to make a doc. Maybe someday. |

Hi... I saw this movie. I don't know if you've seen it yet, but my thoughts are that much of what they say (regarding the importance of veggies in the diet...) correlates well with a healthy paleo-type diet, with the following exceptions: They use and promote cereal grains, they are anti-meat and dairy, and the researchers seem to neglect the high prevalence of food-frying that occurs in (especially) metro china, where their big cancer research project data comes from. I'm looking for a WAPF review of the movie... |
