I have a fatty liver (diagnosed by my naturopath) and from what I've read I think I may have leaky gut syndrome as well (liver dysfunction is related). What kind of doctor would be best to see? Just a general practitioner? What kind of tests should I ask for/ make sure are done? I don't want to be pumped up with pharmaceuticals which is one reason I haven't sought out just any old (CW) doctor.

Fatty liver is best treated by a nutrient dense diet free of...(drum roll please)...the neolithic agents of disease: grains, sugar, excessive fructose, alcohol. How did the naturopath diagnose you? Don't rely too heavily on muscle meat but rather some organ meat (not just liver but a variety), bone marrow, bone/connective tissue broths, 65-80% fat overall, digestive enzymes as needed while switching over, sufficient A, K, zinc, copper, selenium, magnesium - ideally all from diet though supplements will be required if not using a variety of organ meats. And chances are, supplements for mg will be required regardless. D supplements are likely needed as well, but always assess 25(OH)D first. |

You want to make sure you get plenty of choline, too. Egg yolks are your friends. http://blog.cholesterol-and-health.com/2010/12/meeting-choline-requirement-eggs-organs.html |
