Anybody getting Mom something paleo-related as a Mother's Day gift? Is it to support your mom's paleo lifestyle, or - if she's not paleo - to nudge her in the right direction? :)

I could use your ideas as inspiration since I'm shopping for my mom and mom-in-law right now...

Last year I sent my mom mail-order lobsters.

Of course my father benefited also. – Carl_Stawicki May 2 2011 at 15:14
While that's great and all, any ideas for people who don't eat shellfish? :( – Oranges13 May 2 2011 at 15:17

I made my mom an herb garden in a pot last year. Also a salsa garden (tomato/pepper/cilantro) would be good, or a salad garden. These are not directly paleo but are at least a healthy alternative to candy.

This is a great idea as my mom is into herbs. – Ali May 2 2011 at 19:55

I hope it's ok to plug this here, but one of our own PaleoHackers (akd) has started an all-natural skincare line and her products would make awesome paleo-friendly mother's day gifts! (think coconut oil, avocado, and honey-based lotions, balms, scrubs, etc).

Without the kid, the 2 dogs and the cat in the bed? LOL. – sherpamelissa May 2 2011 at 22:50
Ya - preferrably at a nice hotel - with blackout blinds, a king sized bed and a glass of champagne (all by myself!!!) – Thumper May 2 2011 at 23:00
I totally sleep better when I'm traveling alone. I know some people don't like to stay in hotels, but it's nice not to have to worry about anyone but myself! Even if for just one night. – sherpamelissa May 2 2011 at 23:09

I once read a mom's blog post where she said that for Mother's Day, she requested from her husband a day entirely to herself. He took the kids off to her inlaws', and she wrote that she spent the whole day in bed with an entire chocolate cake and a bottle of Belvedere vodka all to herself. Ain't paleo by any stretch, but I can identify with a day of peace and quiet with a couple of treats that I don't have to share with anybody else for once! ;-D – familygrokumentarian May 3 2011 at 2:29
