My boyfriend started a 30 day challenge this May. He walked into it thinking he'd just do thirty days, and then go right back to eating the pizza and junk again. He is kinda heavy, but he doesn't care about his weight/looks/etc, and doesn't seem to think too much for his health. Of course, he's 20, so I almost expect that. Today he admitted that he was basically doing it for my sake, since I was having a hard time staying on the bandwagon while seeing him eat so much junk (Still sometimes very tempted. D:...)

I just wanted to see what you guys would think his response would be at the end of the month, kind of like a "Guess How Many Gumballs are In the Jar" game :P. I personally would sway either way, but he has also been looking to improve things like his mood so that makes me think he MIGHT reconsider by May 31st. Thoughts? And what are your experiences after "convincing" someone to go Paleo for 30 days?

I did my first 30 just to get my trainer to stop talking about it. That was 7 months ago!

I took it seriously, because I wanted to see the difference (and prove him wrong, LOL) and I felt better than I had in YEARS.

If he takes it seriously and sees great results and feels better, which he should if he's doing it right, then it's hard to imagine going back to feeling crappy again.

Just be encouraging and not pushy. If you can make him meals and snacks that can help him stay on track that will probably help.

I've seen people do the 30 days, lose a ton of weight and feel great then fall off the wagon hard and not get back on. Gained the weight back and feel shitty again. Some people aren't into it even though they know it works.

I think anyone who sticks to it for 30 days, especially if they have any kind of obvious health problems, will be completely sold. The problem is, is he going to be strict about it if he's just doing it for your sake? Probably not. And if you're not strict about it, then it's not usually very effective.

He's actually taking it pretty seriously, which surprises even me. He calls me every day on the hour to ask if such-and-such a food is okay to eat from work. Usually it's not, but he'll keep searching until he finds something suitable, and has even begun expressing that he might wanna start just bagging his lunches. o__O – Sortilege May 5 2011 at 0:02
Not on the hour... Just... At a certain hour. My mind is foggy today >< Ha. – Sortilege May 5 2011 at 0:02

Cool...if he keeps it up for a month, I think you'll be good. Especially after the misery the first pizza will bring. That's all it took to convince me. :) – Forrest May 5 2011 at 0:11
