I know that many people are drawn to this way of eating due to health problems caused by modern diets damaging their metabolism resulting in overweight, obesity etc. I became interesting in my diet after developing chronic fatigue syndrome, unfortunatly this turned out to be unrealated to my diet.
My diet has always been pretty good growing up. My family has used butter (no margarine) and mostly olive oil for fats. Little processed foods or sugar, my family never had a microwave. Not much processed breakfast cereals, ate mostly museli or porridge in my teens. Dinner was always some form of meat/fish and vegetables (very little rice, pasta etc).
I do not have a broken metabolism being slim and able to eat carbohydrates with no ill effects. Never had cravings for carbs and can now easily fast 18 hours on occasion without hunger, in fact I almost never feel hungry. This probably indicates I have a low fasting insulin level dspite eating what many people here would consider a lot of fruit and startch (I don't measure it). I have been experimenting with a mostly evolutionary based diet for about 12 years for general long-term health, staying slim, preventing acne plus a general interest in food and nutrition.
Am I the only one?
