I'd like to diversify my n-3 supplementation by using flax instead of fish oil a few times a week. Other posts have noted the unique benefits that flax has over fish, though my impression is that overall fish is superior. I've noticed, however, that few people seem to talk about flax oil pills. I prefer pills because I developed a strong aversion to the taste of flax oil while consuming the one bottle of it that I've purchased.
Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not it matters if I take my flax via oil or pill form?
Like fish oil, you have to take a bunch of pills to equal one tablespoon of oil. So it's a bit more cost effective getting the oil vs the pills for high supplementation. Plus, the oil is usually fresher than the pills (and you can easily tell when it's gone rancid).
However, the pills are more cost effective than the bottle of oil you gag on and avoid drinking. :)
There are very good flax oils in wholefood markets. flax oil is best cooled in the fridge in dark environment. Good flax oil is pricy.
Chia seeds are a good source of Om3s as well. Also leafy greens are good in O3s. *
to your question go for good quality flax oil. otherwise use flaxseed and soak them in water.
