My kids are fed up with eggs and bacon which they have valiantly eaten every morning for the past year or so, they are now down to bread and butter, even though my husband and I still have the full english breakfast we love.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a paleo breakfast that is a little different, not heavily based on eggs, (nor is spicy) and is easy to prepare?
Here's a rundown of ideas.
Leftovers (nothing says breakfast foods have to be eaten for breakfast)
Similarly you could try Nomnompaleo's trailmix as cold cereal and also toss various nuts and dried fruit in or out of the mix (though I wouldn't do 2 or 3 everyday.)
If you do dairy, Greek Yogurt + any of the following: nuts, berries, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, pumpkin+pumpkin pie spice.
Breakfast Smoothie - (could be based on coconut milk, heavy cream, or greek yogurt) - plus fruit, spinach, raw eggs (make sure they're fresh to lessen concerns about salmonella)
Treat breakfast like any other meal (which is what I do when I eat breakfast) - so just meat plus veggies in any number of ways.
Bonus: You can actually shred cauliflower into hashbrown like shreds and fry those up and serve with various breakfast or not breakfast foods. (I personally love cauliflower so I don't mind that it only resembles potatoes in looks but not too much in terms of taste). You could ever make a type of loaded hashbrowns by mixing in whatever you love.
Edit: Here are some new ideas that incoporate some eggs but are not eggy. Like the "Oatmeal" or "Cereal" listed as 2 or 3, I wouldn't recommend them as staples since they will be kind of calorically dense, but one of these sure could break the monotony of bacon and eggs everyday.
You can do pancakes a variety of ways here are ones with almond meal base, almond butter and banana or pumpkin base, coconut flour base, or a sweet potato base. I've tried the first two recipes and I really liked them.
Paleo Biscuit Sandwiches! I think there are links to paleo appropiate gravies out there - meaning you could do biscuits and gravy.
Now I think I might be out of ideas.
Just discovered this today and it is so good:
cook a sweet potato in the microwave, and while it is cooking separate 2-3 egg yolks (I discard the whites).
when sweet potato is ready, slice it open lengthwise and add the egg yolks raw while the potato is hot so it will steam them. Mash them all around to get the yolks distributed and get a yummy consistency. Then of course I add a pat of pastured butter for good measure.
Amazingly good and also convenient if you have to eat something at work and all you have is a microwave to work with---no dishes required!
I blend coconut milk, broccoli, celery, n occasionally a few carrots into a breakfast drink that I have with my 4 eggs scrambled in ghee. My kids love the drink n occasionally we add a few berries as well. Very filling.
Greek yoghurt with macadamia nuts and berries? Full-fat of course. There are plenty of recipes on the internet for coconut or almond flour pancakes. These come to mind, or these waffles and pancakes. How about a chocolate banana coconut milk ice cream? I imagine that would make a lovely breakfast if you made it as a smoothie rather than sticking it in the ice-cream maker, and perhaps left out the honey (maybe substitute some berries for sweetness). Coconut milk when left to cool in the fridge tends to solidify somewhat; scoop out this 'cream' and mix it with nuts and berries, or use it in smoothies.
Homemade burgers or sausages? Last night's leftovers! Steak for breakfast!

If you eat some starch, make hash with sweet potatoes, red peppers, onions and whatever chopped up left over meat.
Soups are eaten for breakfast in many countries. I like Thai coconut soup - Tom kha gai - just google, many recipes. Chili, beef stew or whatever leftovers you have around.
I also like salad for breakfast. Lots of leaves, avocado, salmon or steak, salsa, lime juice. Wilted spinach with some hot fried eggs and roast beef strips on top is amazingly good.
How old are your kids? Get them involved in planning and preparing breakfasts.
Ever since going primal, there's no more boundaries for my food..any food can be eaten at anytime. I had left over roast beef, roast masala lamb, curry chicken etc for my bfast. So freaking good and super filling :D and easy!
Your kids probably won't like this but I've got breakfast figured out.
1/2lb ground animal - so far I've done beef, bison, lamb, turkey and wild boar (on different days). Saute with salt and pepper, add a dash of lemon just as it's almost finished. Serve in a bowl with a spoon - it's savory, salty, delicious, quick, easy, Paleo cereal! At least that's what I call it, to myself, as I enjoy it.
