How do you know if a food is organic/wild/grass-fed at Asian markets such as meat, seafood, and produce?

Here are some resource to get safe, mercuryfree fish. There are probably more on the net. The local asian store i know dont know on the origin of their fish. We have here a MSC label, (marine Stewart Council) it only for wild caught fish and they have environmental regulations. If fish have a organic label its probably farmed with organic regulations. http://www.messianic-torah-truth-seeker.org/Torah/Kashrut/Tahor-clean-Scaled-fish.htm http://www.edf.org/page.cfm?tagID=1521 http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/seafoodwatch.aspx http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/SeafoodWatch/web/sfw_regional.aspx http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/cr_seafoodwatch/download.aspx http://www.rodale.com/safe-fish-eat if you look for videos on "illegal fishing" you also find some resource on where fish come from, and why the shop owner wont tell you always the truth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQkyi5tx_G0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62tiXApn_34 Here is a whole playlist on illegal fishing in the wild. http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=C594CBE6F9F8D362 Good Luck! |

I think you can pretty much assume that no meat is grassfed or organic, and that no produce is organic. Fish is a whole other ball of wax. I'm lucky in that the Lucky 99 Ranch I go to marks all their seafood with whether it is farmed or wild, and country of origin. Which makes choosing seafood a whole lot easier. Though I have been know to stand there with my smartphone looking up stuff on the monterey bay aquarium's site .... |

I guess its because I have always lived near a coast that I've never had this problem... I catch my own fish shrug Trader Joes has a good frozen fish selection, but then again Trader Joes isnt an Asian market. I am with Frank on this one. |
