I wish that when I first started eating paleo/primal/low-carb I had used probiotics, fermented foods, and plenty of magnesium. I do now, but I ended up with gallstones. I was a prime candidate: obese, middle-aged, on the pill, and I lost a lot of weight fast. I'm glad I did, but years of eating crappy food messed up my gut flora, which led to the gallstones. The stones are not a problem, but I do find that too much fat can "dump" quickly. If I eat too much I have problems too. Sounds lovely, doesn't it? Anyway, magnesium is a great supplement for restoring the gut, as are probiotics.

Depends on what you mean by stomach upsets (sorry to probe on details!) - I only get issues when I eat a lot of nuts. They seem to pass through somewhat quickly, to put it delicately. Congratulations on improving your asthma

Some people have digestive distress for a while, but it seems to subside after a while, everyone reacts different. I personally had been having heartburn for a few years. I now only get heartburn when I eat grains or industrial oils. You may want to try some pro-biotics, fermented veggies like sauerkraut or pickles, to restore your gut flora. Also, make sure your supplements are high quality. I was taking Natures Way, I think, it was from WalMart, and it made my acne go nuts. I started taking Carlson's Salmon oil and I'm not having a problem. Another thought is you could be allergic to something else you are eating.

If my experience is of any use, I think my own digestive problems which lead me to paleo were created entirely by stress and anxiety.

I have had a few stomach problems on paleo (bloating, gurgling after eating). However, once I realised they were caused by nervousness they disappeared.

I am by no means suggesting this is your problem since clearly I have no idea who you are. However, I recommend having a think back to when your stomach problems started: did any major change in your life occur around the same time? For me it was an interview for a university.

If nothing comes to mind, I still recommend staying calm and not worrying about things too much.
