Hello everyone, I have been IF this week and I wonder if anyone has day off tips as far as food recommendations. I have noticed I feel sick when eating heavy foods (beef, pork) but I need the high fats and protein to keep me going during my fasts.

I think that 'eat stop eat' by Brad Pilon would be the best resource. I like leangains, but I'm not that dedicated at the moment. Give me a couple 6-10 months and get down to the last 10-15 pounds first. I find that if I fast, I do best with a high protein/high fat/low-to-no carb meal before. Somewhere along the lines of 6-10 eggs cooked in grass-fed butter with some bacon. It helps me adjust to not eating until dinner the next day. However, that being said, I'm not sure I'd recommend doing intermittent fasting. I know that there are health benefits to it, but I'd make sure you were dialed in with your diet completely, that you've fixed your sleep, and are healthy. I've noticed that even a bit of stress makes it hard to do it, and makes the recovery worse. If you can manage the stress, I'd say go for it, but otherwise you might consider waiting till everything else is better. I've stopped doing it just because of that. I can't control my stress right now, and I don't want to cause adrenal issues just because of the supposed benefits. As far eating the beef and pork, how's your digestion? I'd check out Robb Wolf's protocol with the NOW foods super enzyme. He talks about it in the beginning podcasts (7-12) and in 'the paleo solution'. |
