I live in Greece and I can buy fresh fish such as anchovies and sardines at least once a week.Salmon though is farmed raised and quite expensive for what it is so I do not buy. Also, there is not a variety of fish oil capsules or bottles available. However,a friend of mine can send me any kind from the UK.Which one should I choose? Bear in mind that I mostly eat gf lamb but conventional beef and chicken so this is why I consider supplementing.I try to eliminate pork, apart from organic bacon. I found this and seems to be the best available. What do you guys think? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Carlson-Labs-Finest-Lemon-Flavor/dp/B0041TSFCG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305886290&sr=8-1

I know you didn't ask whether you should take the pills but IMHO if you eat mainly gf lamb and you can get sardines (I guess you can buy more so you can eat them twice/week?) there is no need for the pills. Just reduce the chicken if you want to be on the safe side. I'm with Dr. Harris who said it's more about reducing the total PUFA than ading 3s. JMHO ;) |

I use the SFH and love it! There are different flavors to choose from too. I've only tried the orange and it's good. |

I would recommend either Carlsons (the one you have linked is what I use) or one from Stronger Faster Healthier: http://strongerfasterhealthier.com/products/omega-3oil |

Another great choice is an algal DHA supplement. Your body can convert DHA to EPA as needed. This is a good, sustainable way to get O-3. My whole family uses Carlson's liquid Fish Oil or Carlson Kids Chewable DHA. It's fine for grown ups, too! I have also tried Stronger Faster Healthier and really liked it, too. Yes, try to keep PUFA low overall, but it can be helpful when diet can't be as perfect as we'd like or when inflammation is increased due to some type of stress. |
