I can understand why carbs are good PWO, but on rest days is there any good reason to include carbs in my diet if I can get adequate calories from just fat and protein? I am 26, 5'11", 160 lbs and trying to put on mass. Thanks!

Try eating carbs every day and see what happens. I have a post on this coming up in a few days.

If your goal is to gain mass eat carbohydrates every day. There is absolutely NO reason, given your aim, not to. Big protein, big carbohydrate from starch, moderate to maybe lowish fat. You'll have high energy, good performance with the iron, and you can raise or lower the fat-intake to control body composition

And don't worry, like I used to when started lifting but maintained my LC eating, you wil not necessarily put on body fat with the mass gain. A bit, yes, but not necessarily a ton at all. Just monitor in the mirror, eff the scale. I have gone from 154 lbs on VLC and weights to 175 lbs with equal calories from protein and starch and then the leftover is fat. – ben61820 May 26 2011 at 1:47

Yep. Like the others said, carbs everyday if you want to bulk up. You will put on some fat, but that comes with the bulk you say you want. If you keep it to the good carbs and not junk, the fat gain should be fairly minimal.

limit urself but dont stay away from them on ur dayz off. You might as well eat doughnuts cookies, n chips all day cause the carbs not being used will sit n transfer to fat if not used.
