I just wanted to let you know we also already answered this in another question:

http://paleohacks.com/questions/41327/another-fructose-question-whats-your-take-on-this-study-posted-by-chris-master

The problem with that study in paleo eyes is that they were replacing starches from grains with fructose from fruit. It seems pretty logical in the paleo perspective that fruit is better than grains.

All that I need to know is to say no to fructose as a food additive.

For Paleo types like us Fructose is not usually consumed as a food additive because it is usually in pre-packaged foods containg vegetable oils wheat etc... We would never ues it to cook with for sure...

Given a choice we would pick a fruit with vitamin C or something better than just fructose as food additive.

Very good answer. – Josh M Jun 3 2011 at 13:58
I like that. I just don't buy the "fruit is bad" philosophy but once you refine it into powder or syrup it's no better than any other processed food and should be avoided. – Nance Jul 25 2011 at 14:12

Try yacon syrup - its an oligofructosaccharide - a type of fructose that doesnt get absorbed by the blood stream and instead goes to your bowel and feeds the good bacteria like acidophilus bifudus- also helps calcium absorbtion - virtually no calories - tastes a bit like concentrated apple syrup - nice all round sweetener - 100% natural from the yacon root- dont eat yacon powder its usually the leaves which have recently be found to be toxic. The root is an andean vegetable used for thousands of years.
