has anyone, or is anyone, using LDN, low dose naltrexone for their health issues?
i will be starting this soon and i'm wondering about other people's results, especially since we all here aim to heal with our diet first.

I have it, not currently using it (safely stored in my refridge for now). Was at one point so severely immflamed in my intestines from food allergies, it was the only thing in the last 6 years that helped me get the immflamation down to a point that I could live a semi normal life. I should add, I've always refused sterioid treatments.

You obviously have to start slow and increase slowly, there is a flu-ish side effect and some people have trouble sleeping. I only had some flu-ish symptons, aching into your bones but my dr. told me to cut the dose back to where it didnt both me and hold there for a while. If i felt like trying to increase later, go for it, if not, no worries.

I believe I got up to about 3.5 (4.5 max), I was on it for about 6 months, it did me a world of good. I've got my stash in case I need it again in the future.

I say give it a try and I hope it works for you!!! Glad you found a dr. who knows about LDN, it really is cutting edge for chronic inflammation!!

I have numerous food allergies which are ever increasing, my symptons include immediate to prolonged intestinal inflammation. My food goes thru me in 20 minutes flat (at my worst)...this was maintained for over 2 years. I have leaky gut and probably ibs....I got this from a dr. in Taiwan who was also with similar gut issues...he saved me! I live overseas, moving every 2+ years, seen many many drs.from many continents who all diagnos me with different things, I give up with drs. for now....I seem to know more about me than they care to hear.

yeah i have a limited diet lately, and i decided i wasnt going to jump through hoops and pay all the fees for a dr's consult about ldn, so i ordered the pills to make it myself. many people do that because, as you said, many docs are ignorant. – dsohei Jun 7 2011 at 0:49
btw really appreciate your comment – dsohei Jun 7 2011 at 6:41
hope it helps!! – Kelly Jun 7 2011 at 14:31
How do you find this stuff? I've been told that I need it, but have to find a local doc to get me the script. I tried the yahoo LDN group but no luck. – Todd Jun 27 2011 at 1:05
I got it from a dr....and he gave me a big supply so I've not had to get more, I keep it refrigerated for future use. Not sure how you'd go about getting it otherwise, I believe its a controlled substance. – Kelly Jun 28 2011 at 14:33

Are you going to be taking this for MS? Just wondering because I am on a DMD for MS.

i do not have ms. i have gut issues/candida and/or fungus, possibly leaky gut with impaired immune system and chronic inflammation among other symptoms stemming from this. – dsohei Jun 6 2011 at 22:15

I started LDN about 5 days ago, and I'm surprised how quickly I'm experiencing progress. I have ankylosing spondylitis (autoimmune - rheumatoid arthritis in the spine). In just 5 days, my stomach is less acidic, less nauseous, the inflammation in my shoulders is down, the pain in my neck (spine) is down, and the iritis (eye inflammation) is way down. I stopped taking Humira (TNF blocker like Remicade) since it wasn't working anyway, and I'm slowly trying to come off prednisone as well. I'd be very interested to know if others are trying to go this route. I'm really hoping to get off the toxic drugs and onto something like LDN that has far less side effects!

I am taking it because I had low positive ANA for lupus (negative now), low positive for Sjogren's (getting lower every time I test) and thyroid antibodies indicating Hashimoto's (though normal thyroid hormone level). I need to get that tested again since it has been a few months. The first few weeks made sleep weird, but afterwards I felt great. I really love it, I feel energetic, and less anxious (a problem I had before).

i was using it for 2.5 months but found no relief. i was at the 4.5 dosage. my only side effect was severe insomnia. i got maybe 2 hours of sleep a night while i was on it and then i'd nap midday. that was difficult on my body for sure.
