I'm a big fan of beef jerky. However, the stuff that's easy to find is loaded with junk ingredients -- sugar, MSG, soy, preservatives, etc.. Anyone know of a good online supplier where I can get more natural stuff?

I'm aware that it's possible to make it yourself (and there's a question on that already). I'm looking specifically for good online places to buy from.

Paleo Kits has a great product, and is obviously geared to paleo concerned people. http://paleokits.bigcartel.com/

Their kits are packaged according to calorie amounts and contain not just jerky, but also nuts and berries.

And Paleo Kits support a great cause - Steve's Club, which gets kids off the streets and into the gym! – speno Feb 16 2010 at 23:23
I love Paleo Kits. I just wish I could get them in jerky-only form in addition to the great mixed kits. – Paleo Dave Feb 18 2010 at 19:08

US Wellness has the best price, Its good but a little gamey, im going to shoot for Spicy next time. Slank Shack is the most interesting as you can fully customize. – Stephen-Aegis Mar 8 2011 at 11:55
No joke on the gamey. I have a hard time with it. Love the price but I don't find eating it enjoyable at all. Spicy does taste better. It drowns out the gamey quite a bit. Have you tried any of these other brands? I like Sophia's a lot but it's pricey. – Shari Bambino Sep 1 2011 at 15:16

Mountain Beef Jerky is MSG and nitrate-free. It does have a bit of sugar though.

Mahogany Smoked Meats in Bishop, California, has great stuff - some not paleo. IMO, the best stuff is the Dried Beef (think 1/2 inch thick and very smoky beef jerky) but I think they only sell that in-store since it has to be refrigerated.

These contain sodium nitrate. :\ – Esther Aug 21 2011 at 21:18
It's Sodium Nitrite, so probably is from celery, not sodium Nitrate. – George Brodie Feb 29 2012 at 5:36
