I've had it. In my opinion it's just ok. Nothing special. Some might disagree. I prefer to cheat with a Red Mango (frozen yogurt) or some natural ice cream. – Jamie Jun 8 2011 at 21:44

I would prefer 'no sweetener added' far more than simply 'no sugar added'. – Henny Jun 8 2011 at 22:19
Thanks for the heads up on this. I haven't seen this but will look for it. I really do prefer sugar free as I get pretty bad reactive hypo to most foods with added sugar. Although this isn't perfect by a stretch I would buy it. I make my own usually but sometimes you just need a fix and this would work well for me. – Shari Bambino Jun 11 2011 at 2:06

i made a reDONKulus coconut ice cream with lime zest. amazing. i sort of like that its a pain to make because its a bit of a deterrent to eating it every day. its dangerous that there is paleo ice cream so available! hopefully not anywhere near me, or i will balloon to 400 pounds in no time. i also prefer to cheat with the real stuff. this is a bit too easy to justify eating more frequently than one probably should.

Even though it does include the holy coconut (all bow down- Yum!) and there's no dairy, some of the other ingredients seem a bit more dodgy to me.

I've tried the brand, hoping for a reasonably paleo-approved treat, but ended up having a bad reaction to the Guar Gum in it. More details here: http://paleohacks.com/questions/4077/do-i-need-to-worry-about-the-guar-gum-in-my-coconut-milk/38227#38227 If you've been staying away from  processed food for a while, you might be more susceptible to it.

Also, I'm not too wild about the idea of carrageenan which has been linked with cancer.

If you don't react physically to the food, in the end it's your decision where to draw the line.

Sometimes I definitely miss ice cream and its hard to find one that's Paleo friendly- i'm actually considering buying my own ice cream maker!

Hope this helps. :)

We just scored a $5 cuisinart ice cream maker from a friends' yard sale, and I blended up coconut milk, vanilla, two egg yolks and added whole rasberries...it was pretty good, but I'm thinking I'll add a little stevia next time, and maybe a sweeter berry...mmmmm....blueberry season is only a month away! Every once in a while, I'll "cheat" with Larry and Luna's Coconut Bliss, but obviously, homemade is the way to go for the occasional indulgence! Superior nutrition and taste...

Ive been thinking of picking up a cheap ice cream maker, since I figured something like this would be fairly simple to make, but I would have control over all the ingredients so I could not only do flavors I would enjoy, but make sure no industrial stabilizers or other franken foods got in there.

I love being paleo and really never get cravings for anything that I have given up, except for the occasional ice cream, especially now that its warming up.

I don't do ice cream often, but if I were to it would probably be Coconut Bliss. It's got guar gum and agave syrup in it, but at least it's dairy free and it tastes amazing.

it's so freakin good. especially the chocolate. I'm strict paleo, so this is my cheat everyone once in a while. And it's only a cheat because it is a lot of agave and less than .35% of guar bean. But as we know, it only takes a little of what we're not supposed to eat to create a huge health problem. – Rud Jun 9 2011 at 0:01
