The US is a huge country, and contains great diversity in terms of climate, landscape, and people. I wonder which cities or states you think are the most paleo-friendly. Those places where good meat and fish are not hard to find and not too expensive and also where there is a lot of local vegetables supplies; also where enjoying nature is not too complicated (you do not need to drive three hours to get into a forest or mountain). Moreover if hunting or fishing is possible, that would be a great plus. Which cities or state-areas are your favourites?
Washington. I think where I live, is a great state for all that you mentioned. (and Oregon). We have mountains, forest, and a big demand for Local and organically produced foods. Love it!
We have plenty-o-fish too with the surrounding Puget Sound waters & rivers.
Colorado. Specifically, I live near Boulder, which was recently named the healthiest city in America. Plenty of trails and fishing (though we are land-locked) and of course, there is the mountains. We have many options for Organic foods (Wild Oats is headquartered here) and much of the state is covered by farms, so lots of access to farmers markets as well. Lastly, Boulder is a very open-minded place. Some say it's a little stuck in the 60's, and it's actually still legal to swim topless in the Creek that runs through the heart of downtown.
Roanoke Virginia or any small town in the Shenandoah Valley. The sustainable foods movement is really rocking and rolling in that area making local foods easily available. The climate is temperate also which is a plus. Within an hour and a half is terrific hunting and fishing in Bath and Highland Counties, population 4,500 and 2,500 respectively. Negative-property prices are outlandish in the area because it is such a wonderful place to live!!
According to google trends, the top 10 places that search for "paleo diet" the most:
Interesting that NYC isn't on that list, though they have an amazing meet-up group, and several great champions there, like Melissa.
I tend to enjoy most of Utah outside of Salt Lake City. Forests, deserts, red rock... plenty of fishing/hunting. As long as you are not a member of the predominant "faith" its even better cuz then you can be left alone.
