I've been trying to follow a strict paleo diet for months, however would like to enjoy a glass of wine a few times per week. The problem is that when I slip up and drink too much, my diet is ruined the next day. Usually I feel tired and want to eat all day long, but of course only after a night of alcohol overindulgence. Does anyone have a scientific explanation of why the happens? How to prevent this is obvious, I'm just wondering if a different alcohol choice, like tequila, would be bettet? My body seems to have gotten more sensitive to red wine. Thanks.
Vodka is a good choice. If you are worried about the carbs, just do what I do: more bong hits.
Robb Wolf's norcal margaritas are great and I never get a headache or feel like crap the next day like I do with wine. http://paleoblocks.blogspot.com/2009/10/recipe-robb-wolfs-nor-cal-margaritas.html
I definitely do my share of drinking as a bartender. I used to knock em back, but I have seriously chilled way wayyy back on it for awhile.
I find now that all alcohol makes me stuffy, and makes me gain weight/fat (probably just bloating and water weight, but it sucks nonetheless!)
If I drink I usually try to stick to potato vodka, wine or champagne, brandy or tequila and sometimes cider. Of course at the end of the night, most of the rules fly out the window.
I find that drinking good tequila is the best for me, no hangover, and I do not seem to have more cravings with it, I buy sipping tequila and only have one decent shot and take my time sipping it. Wine, not so good, can destroy my diet in a flash. Potato vodka is good too with mineral water and a slice of orange.
I will say Bards is pretty good too.
So if you're 22, male, paleo(though nobody you're with knows), are very sensitive to alcohol, but are at a bar, and just need to drink something to make the girl you're with feel comfortable, what would you get?
