My plan is to transition using a 14 stop program, modified from Panu's step program. I tried going cold turkey a few times, so I am trying a different approach.
How do you keep track of your transition to eating more paleo foods and less SAD foods without obsessing over writing things down?
I have 30-50 lbs to lose and normally I weigh and measure myself weekly. But how do I keep track of my body's improvement without being obsessive.
Any tips or advice?
I am right here with you - last week I was being totally obsessive about it and weighing every day and fretting when it started going up for a short period.
It's a process of just getting over calories, fat, weight. It may take you a while, you might be able to do it in a few weeks. It's just like learning to ride a bike in a way. Take it one step at a time, don't get overly anxious about it.
You ARE eating more healthily, no matter how much you're eating. If you eat a carrot and it puts you over your RDI, well come on. It was just a carrot.
I still have about 18 pounds to my first goal (160) but I'm already 12 pounds in, unbelievably. I just started 2 1/2 weeks ago.
Stick to your guns. Be proud of your progress and successes, and learn to shrug off your setbacks and keep going, you're beautiful :)
i track my food two or three days a week, max, to keep myself on the straight and narrow (i try to average less than 50g carbs a day ON AVERAGE at the end of the week- at this point i can mostly do it in my head, but i track sometimes just to be sure im no trending upwards without realizing it.) i weight myself every day at the same time- ONCE. if i miss my weigh in (right after i wake up and pee) then i cant weigh in until the next day. i measure myself every month.
i stick to those rules, even when im tempted to do it more often. that way i get a good overall picture of (hopefully) the downward trend, but i dont go nutty.
In Paleo we are advised not to worry about counting calories etc. But those people who want to lean out may not believe this. Even with Paleo, to lean out you have to burn more than you put in. So, when I started Paleo i also downloaded the Lose-it app for my smartphone. I still use it religiously every meal as it will show fat fiber an protein intake for the day. Good luck!
