Anyone seen this article yet? Thoughts? Opinions? It's not clear from the article what kind of fat they're talking about - it could be trans fats?

Ok...this is typical bad science. Rats are not humans though some humans are rats. My wife's story. On January 31 2010, my wife had a double brain anuerysm. 1/2 of those that this happens too don't even make it to the hospital. My wife did even though she had a double. That night they coiled her brain and stopped the bleeding. The Dr.s told me the next day that "If she lives, because of the massive bleeding from the 2 anuerysms, she has a 95% chance that she will end up a vegetable in a wheelchair." From day 6 thru 21,all patients are at risk for vaso spasm. These are ischemic strokes that kill off all function and mobility etc. "We can't tell you why they come but we will be there when they do." Great. I called Dr. Ron Rosedale and he said "I know why they come. High sugar and high insulin are both spasmotic. We need to get her off the nasal sugar feed and prevent them from injecting additional insulin into her as a result of driving her blood sugar up to 200 consistently." He was able to convince the docs to do this. We argued with the Drs., the nutritionists and the nurses. They all felt she needed more sugar and protein. Dr. Rosedale put her on MCTs and fish oil and magnesium and cut all carbs out. Fast forward to today where, if you did not know this about her, you would never guess that 17 months ago this happened. You wouldn't have guessed at 7 months. We had a Dr. whom we met who was shocked at 7 months when he met her. POINT being, the medical establishment believes that the brain functions best on glucose. They do not understand the benefits of using ketones for fuel. They do not understand about high insulin and the resultant dangers caused by it. Modern doctors do not understand the inability of the body to heal wilst it has elevated glucose and elevated insulin. In short, ignore this bad science. Ignore their call to eat more carbs and less fat. Ignore their ignorance. |

Mice are not evolved to eat meat/fat, a grain diet for them is actually natural. So any study which says that fat causes, cancer, heart disease, stroke, brain damage etc in mice is useless to me and seems pretty obvious. |

I think they are talking about PUFA's They are another cause of obesity and destroy the leptin signaling in the brain. |

High fat in these studies tends to be something ridiculous like 60% of your diet from soybean oil or something. I'd wait for Peter at Hyperlipid to eviscerate the study. |

Oxidized fats can be some of the most toxic substances we can injest. (Food, not outright poisons). If they were feeding the rats
then we are probably talking oxidized PUFA (soybean, corn, vegetable oil used at high heat for deep frying). |
