I would roll out of bed whenever I felt rested enough (say...11am?), pull back the blackout curtains, and gaze out (naked of course) across the glory of my self-sufficient farm-windmill-geothermal-orchard-airstrip-estate on a lake in the mountains of Hawaii, turn around and look at Gypsyloo just before she starts to wake up, and pad off to the kitchen.

Make homegrown mountain tea with raw heavy cream from my own cows. Make breakfast for the fam, eggs and bacon...I skip breakfast. Go for a walk with my Malamutes, then come back and do farm-work with my kids (which I don't have yet...)

Take a nap after some mid-afternoon-delight with Gypsyloo. Break my fast with some leftover bacon-wrapped stuffed-meatloaf (thanks Uggla!! We love it!!) and some coconut water from the palm trees down by the beach. Then I walk to my outdoor homemade gym and do my lifting and ab work for 45 minutes to an hour. Walk in the house to a waiting appetizer of grassfed calves liver with bacon and onions in a balsamic glaze, a T-bone with reduced red wine on the side, mashed sweet potatoes with cream and pastured butter, bacon wrapped asparagus and a side of chanterelle and morel mushrooms sauteed in butter and a touch of chicken stock. Pop a bottle of Olivier Cousin Anjou Gamay and take the meal outside, and eat with the family around a bonfire (gotta have a bonfire!) in the firepit on the ridge overlooking the lake, surrounded by a canopy of twinkling LED lights and stars.

Then I load up Gypsyloo in the plane, leaving the kids to be watched by the oldest ones and the dogs (their respective Direwolves), and jet off to NYC with an icy bottle of Krug to make sure she's in town for the matinee of her new starring role on Broadway. Sleep on the plane, wake up to fresh brewed black tea and cream and start a new amazing Paleo day.

even better...I would sleep on the roof to be woken up by the beautiful sunrise, then indulge in some rooftop yoga. – RR Jun 15 2011 at 15:42

I get up about half an hour before dawn - enough time to crawl out of my tent, get the camp stove started up, and make some green tea so I can drink it listening to the wind over the lake while I watch the sunrise. When the sun's up, I amble back to the stove and start cooking up some of the fish we caught last night. My parents, sister, and brother wake up and we eat sitting on the ground, planning where we're going today. An hour later, we're packing up the canoes to take off for another day of paddling. It's a beautiful day - Late summer somewhere on a lake in northern Ontario. For lunch, we supplement our jerky and trail mix with blueberries that we find at our campsite. More paddling in the afternoon, until it's time to land and set up the tents again. My dad heads out with my sister to catch some dinner, and I sit arguing Roman history with my mother until it's time to cook up whatever they've hauled in. We tell jokes around the campfire until we're falling asleep.

...although honestly you could replace the canoeing with hiking and I'd be equally overjoyed. I just care about being somewhere 100% out of cell phone range and a plane ride from the nearest computer.

Cooking food in a 1920s styled French countryside house, preferably in the Southern French country side, or transplanted to Italy.

Locally bought food from the area, what's in season.

Crossfit in my garage.

Bringing breakfast and coffee to my better half in bed when she wakes up, or making it with her. Enjoying my own food with coffee on the porch and my book/notebook.

Some work, whether at a job or in the yard.

Home after eating lunch (something I made earlier and brought with me).

A physical activity with the lady (biking, walk, jog, frisbee, hike, climbing, swim, etc.).

Make dinner.

Sleep.

And then toss in there sex as often as desired when possible. With weekend camping trips to climb, or crossfit outdoors.

Ugh.

I don't know but it involves the following; sex, sailing, exercise, wine, and more sex... and tennis

How much detail...? The short versio involves:

  • Waking up naturally to a gorgeous day and my BF's arms around me,
  • Coffee and nookie (in no particular order),
  • Breakfast OR lunch
  • Winter: spend the day skiing fresh powder, Summer: spend the day hiking through a virgin forest (or surfing)
  • More nookie!
  • Appies, dinner and wine with friends; a fire; and maybe a soak in our outdoor hot tub
  • More nookie!

Breakfast = before skiing = omlette made with pastured eggs, bison chorizo sausage, cheese, and served with salsa and avocado

Lunch = picnic while relaxing on a pristine beach = fresh fruit or berries picked right off the tree plus whatever else strikes my fancy...

Dinner after skiing = bacon wrapped asparagus as an appy, beef (or bison, or elk, or venison...) stew with root veg and red wine, and a good piece of extra dark chocolate for dessert

Summer BBQ = ceviche with sparkling water and lime to start, followed by a grilled (rare!) steak and a big salad

As for the long version, I think I'll leave it to your imagination...

In an undisclosed location somewhere near the Tennessee / North Carolina border.

I would wake up approximately 45 minutes before dawn (it's just how I'm programmed), and slowly stretch.

A cup of very good coffee and a tablespoon of coconut oil, then I'm out to pick eggs from our chickens and move the chicken tractors, making sure to scatter a handful of earthworms, mealworms, and flax seed among the grass for the chickens to nosh. I would check in on our goats, our steer, and the three pigs that my son refuses to let me slaughter, and make sure they are all fed and OK. Before calling it a morning, I would stop by the smokehouse and grab a side of bacon and some salami made with the pig I slaughtered last time my son got to stay with the in-laws.

Once back in the house from my chores, and the rest of the family is waking up (hurried along since I stirred the chickens and they are getting clucky). I help my son with some school work, then we go out together to catch some fish from our stock pond, where we keep our catches... lucky us, 4 rainbow trout! I bring them home and fry them with the bacon I pulled from the smokehouse, and some onions. I allow my son one-half of his daily allotted videogame or television show time, and I take a power nap.

I awaken around 4pm, my wife is braising a massive chuck roast with canned tomatoes we jarred up last year, and half a bottle of red wine.

I hit the gym for about 40 minutes, following a laid-back rendition of the Joe Mills 20/20 routine. Lucky me, my gym has a massive old cast iron tub that I filled with cool water and epsom salts prior to the workout. I take a cold soak, towel-off and head back into the house for my roast, with a side of roasted root veggies.

Each of us with a full belly, we sit down outside and my wife and I enjoy a few shots of my distilled honey brandy (honest officer, that distiller is for WATER!), we break out some musical instruments and try to figure out a few songs together. Then, shortly after my son beds down around 9pm, we follow suit an hour later. Then, I soon realize I'm in class, with no pants on, and everyone is staring at me....

Oh crap, I was dreaming, wasn't I?

That is awesome Joshua!!! – Eric Feb 12 2012 at 22:05
I second that. It makes me so glad my parents are looking more into paleo. They have a farm in NC...and I play music on our porch when home. Good times, Joshua. Good times. – Caleb the Hobbit Feb 13 2012 at 0:03

wake up at around noon.. go to the nearest waterfall to get a shower and a big drink of water. go and gather some fruit, berries and yummy green leafy veggies.. go home and relax and do some odd jobs and spend time playing with the kids and reading them stories. then in the late afternoon, go for a run with the wolves, kill something that we can all eat.. drag it home, chop it up, cook it and eat it with the wolves, lots of friends and the people I love.. all sat round a big fire singing random songs, howling and banging drums..

My perfect paleo day fits nicely with my other life goals. One day I'll live on a ranch that has a pond (or some other body of water), lots of trees and wildlife, and a huge wrap-around porch. I think I'll put the hammock on the deck between the house and the pond. 8)

My perfect day:

Wake up and take care of the animals (horses, cows, chickens, etc.). Once the sun starts coming up, head down to the pond for a relaxing dip in the water. If it's chilly outside, maybe a quick trip in the kayak instead of diving in the water. Get back to the house and be greeted with a breakfast of bacon alongside a broccoli and cheese omelet (not paleo, but in this fantasy I have a butler who does the cleaning and cooking). Spend the middle of the day playing with the dogs and/or kids in the yard, retiring for breaks in my hammock whenever I want to nap or read.

Dinner is a bone-in roast that has slow cooked in the oven served alongside sweet potato casserole and sauteed green beans with bacon. I end the day munching on berries and sipping hot tea, surrounded by my family's love and laughter.

Nice...that's pretty much mine too. I'll skip the butler though and cook my own breakfast cos my perfect Paleo day includes all the time I need to harvest and cook my food. – wood Jun 13 2011 at 15:07
Sounds very relaxing! I like the setting alot. – Futureboy Jun 13 2011 at 23:24
I enjoy cooking...but sometimes I prefer to have someone cook for me. 8) – Ali Jun 14 2011 at 17:15
