I've done experiments with taking fruit in and out of my diet for a while now. I discovered that when I'm low carb or zero carb I always look thinner and feel better. Is this the tell tale sign that I have insulin senstivity?

I'm the same way...when the only carbs I eat are low sugar veggies, I look and feel better in every way...I inevitably slip into eating some fruit in the summer, and then usually add some nuts, before I know what hit me, I'm baking cookies with almond flour, butter and coconut sugar, and feeling bad...my binge tendencies get triggered by fruit and nuts...thanks for this post, it's reminding me to be extra vigilant of that slippery slope as we move into the season of abundant fresh local fruit...to answer your question though, I think that anyone who doesn't tolerate fruits well has blood sugar imbalance issues, but hard to say exactly what without more individualized information, and in the end, if just avoiding carbs is what works, maybe knowing the why isn't the most important thing ... |

Or it could be that you are losing water. Carbohydrates are hydrating. An excess can cause water retention. |

you lose 4g of water per stored carb...it just means ur leaner looking because your muscles arent holding water. guarantee it is the same weight gain/loss with carbs vs without, unless your overeating with carbs i ate app 200g carbs yesterday prolly more and was at the pool in a bikini today, was told i looked jacked lol. now if i dont eat carbs for a few days, ill look 'ripped' and way to lean |

It could be a sign, I am definitely insulin resistant and I do way better on LC, VLC or ZC. |

Or it's just a sign that VLC works really well for you. |
