Hi all, I was wondering if anyone out there would have any suggestions for consuming raw meat(other than with your mouth of course). Specifically, I am interested in reducing the time spent eating tough meat via grinding etc. What methods of reducing time spent on raw meat consumption would be recommended? I have been availing myself of grass fed ground beef(raw) and it takes approx. 2-3 minutes to consume conpared to as much as 20 minutes to consume a steak of similar proportions. I like to reserve my time for other things than eating so I would like some advice(other than to cook) as to how to reduce consumption time. Grinding, blending(didn't work too well)....?

Partially freeze, cut thin slices almost like shaved, toss with a little sesame oil, slivers of of Asian pear. Chop sticks: bit of meat bit of pear. Eat and enjoy. Takes 10 minutes to prepare and is tastycakes. A little coconut aminos are nice, too. you can marinate it in vinegar or other herbs. that also helps to kill some bacteria and germs. Maybe with garlic and cayenne.There is probably some recipe in the internet.

The mongols used to put meat under the saddle and ride on it to tenderize it. You could try pounding your meat. Maybe try cutting it into slices after that would help.

I have sliced then blended it but it was a chore and still took a long time to eat vs. ground meat. Tenderizing I can't see working to well as the fibres are still all one piece. – PersonMan Jun 20 2011 at 17:48

Well, you may have independantly discovered that humans (H.S.S.) are very well adapted to eating meat cooked. Richard Wrangham (Catching Fire) argues that cooking made us human (caused the evolution from Habilus to Erectus). If so, then eating raw would be antithetical to our evolutionary biology. But, don't let that dissuade you from eating raw meat, if you are so inclined. – Dave S. Jun 21 2011 at 12:41

Other than a meat smoothy, I'm not sure what can be eaten faster than ground meat. I tried it, but I needed to add a lot of seasonings to make it palatable for me.

I have tried to blend meat in a blender but it didn't work too well to particalize it. I am at a loss as to how to eat raw meat without chewing for an excessively long time or spending lots of time chopping, etc. What's to be done? – PersonMan Jun 20 2011 at 17:50
I find raw, ground meat extremely tasty, but every time I eat it I start having a red patch between my eyebrows :P. I'll try it again this week, I really loved the taste. Way better than cooked ground beef. – Korion Oct 15 2011 at 16:09

I'm sure you'll find all the answers regarding raw meat at rawpaleodietforum.com. My understanding is most users on this forum do not eat raw meat.

yeah go to that forum and together y'all can enjoy obsessing over raw meat. i get it, i do, i tried it for a while and still eat steak tartare a lot. there's something gross and unsatisfying with eating raw ground though, i don't care if it takes 20 more minutes, and eating slower is better for your health anyway, mister health-focused man. – dsohei Jun 20 2011 at 16:13

Chewing and adding saliva while doing so has a huge part in the digestive process, is it not worth the extra few minutes? Not to dissuade you, just something to think about. – karimoo Oct 15 2011 at 16:05

Pesto/Raw bison pistachio pesto

Food process handful of basil, handful of Italian parsley (optional) 1-2 cloves minced garlic, 1 cup sprouted pine nuts, walnuts or pistachios, 4-6 tbl olive oil, Himalayan rock salt to taste, Greek olives (optional). Add more oil if necessary to aid processing. Tomatoes can also be added for this purpose.

Make pistachio pesto recipe & add strips of raw bison tenderloin or top sirloin (I don’t recommend using burger) when processing pesto. Spread onto cucumber slices or wrap in romaine lettuce leaf.

i know this is not the answer you seek, but still i am going to throw it down.

you want the benefits of consuming raw meat without the perceived drawbacks? maybe the only option is to reinterpret the drawback as a benefit? you might use the 20 minutes it takes to masticate the meat to appreciate the animal that is sustaining you; feed your soul while you feed your body.

personally, i do not eat ground meat unless i ground it myself or the supplier can guarantee it all came from the same animal. to me, there is something undignified about mindlessly chowing down on bits and pieces of numerous animals.

This guy on the Bulletproof Executive (http://bulletproofexec.com) was raw paleo for several years. He suggests dipping the meat in lugol's iodine to kill the bacteria - then you're fine.

iodine was and still is in many cases the way to safely sterilize surfaces. they do it at the red cross when you donate blood. we have certainly lost many of our senses when it comes to safety and "survival". – dsohei Dec 26 2011 at 23:24

drop it into a food processor and add water, you can drink it. its like sombody chew it up for you.
