I don't see anything terribly wrong with tea. If you're cutting it out because you want to be free of the shackles of caffeine, or for other personal reasons, a replacement I like is rooibos. I know you said you aren't crazy about herbal tea, but rooibos is warm and rich. It's really nice with heavy cream or coconut milk, and on it's own. It's often sold in chai or spice blends that are nice too.
here's what wikipedia says about it's 'health benefits':
Rooibos is becoming more popular in
Western countries, particularly among
health-conscious consumers, due to its
high level of antioxidants such as
aspalathin and nothofagin, its lack of
caffeine, and its low tannin levels
compared to fully oxidized black tea
or unoxidized green tea leaves.
Rooibos also contains a number of
phenolic compounds, including
flavanols, flavones, flavanones, and
dihydrochalcones.
Rooibos is purported to assist with
nervous tension, allergies and
digestive problems.
Traditional medicinal uses of rooibos
in South Africa include alleviating
infantile colic, allergies, asthma and
dermatological problems
