Much the same way we do, I'd expect. Spending leisure time together, sharing food and chores, raising the Groklings, making each other laugh,bringing flowers home from time to time, painting the walls of the cave together, dancing etc. Plus lots of hiking.

I kind of get the feeling that the Groks would be asking the same question about us; we`re obviously malnourished, weak, unfit, most of us couldn't hunt and gather to save our lives... Where's the attraction? How can they stand to mate with each other?

Pretty sure smell would have played a large part in attraction - we ignore or cannot smell our natural scents in today's age because they are often masked with unnatural smells like perfume.

Also, I imagine the six pack and bulging biceps would have shown Grok to be a strong mate capable of providing for Grokette and the Groklings.

So - what can we learn - don't wear deodorant, get lean, grunt, etc. Oh hang on, most paleos do a lot of that already....

Pretty sure my wife finds me more attractive since I have lost weight on paleo. I'm basing that on 'points scored' though rather than having asked her... :)

Well, there are things that Grok could control and things he couldn't when it came to reproducing:

Grok could attract potential mates by proving that he was a good provider; bagging the biggest game. He could retain those females by sharing his kills, protecting the females; better yet, providing for and protecting his offspring.

What he couldn't control were those things passed down to him from HIS parents: his genetics. But they played a huge role. How tall he was, how little he got sick, how strong he was, how fast, etc were all used by Grokette to guage whether she should invest 9 months in reproducing his genome.

I'll bet that GROK's smell had much much less to do with mating than GROKETTE's. Grok would use his sense of smell to determine whether Grokette was in oestrous (and, later, where she was in menstruous).

I can only guess that my wife finds me more attractive now than when I first started the Paleo/Primal lifestyle.

Kinda going off of CT's post: smell must be a strong part of seduction, primarily with pheromones being a key factor in attraction. I got to thinking about this the other day when I saw "Robin Hood" in the theatre. These guys NEVER BATHED and yet they still hooked up.

Grok probably didn't "bathe" in the classic sense, short of being in a river or lake for whatever reason came into play.

But I'm wondering if the smells of "then" were considered okay by Grok and Grokette. Like, hey, Grok walked through a field of buffalo dung. Maybe it was like Drakkar Noir to Grokette.
