Is purified fructose such as that found in Emergen-C Lite fizzy vitamin C/electrolyte powder as bad as high fructose corn syrup??

Refined fructose and refined sugar in general can cause hypophosphatemia but the amount in lite is like 1g so it shouldn't do much unless your loading up on like 20 of them. |

Perhaps worse as it's pure fructose rather than 55% fructose 45% glucose as HFCS is. However, the amount in the Emergen-C is tiny, as cliff said, and I would't worry about it too much. Most likely, hypophosphatemia is probably the least of our worries wrt sugar consumption. |

They are both bad. Fructose makes a lousy food additive. |

It worse! The bad part of HFCS is the fructose. At least HFCS is only 1/2 poison. Purified fructose is just purified poison. Would purified arsenic be good for you? |
