Like it or not, there are now many credible sources who speaks warmly about the potato diet when it comes to healthy fat-loss.
But those it work because it is potatoes and potatoes are magic or can you substitute potatoes for sweet potatoes, jams, or even rice and soaked brown rice?
Additionally, how will adding other nutritions change the outcome? Like drinking milk or frying the potatoes in butter.
i would be extremely skeptical, it seems this is based of potatos having a good micronutrient profile, and preparing the potato in such a way that the body does not absorb most of it?? so less glycemic impact. not sure about the science behind that but basing a diet on 1 food seems like a horrible idea, and basing your diet on a single carb is certainly not paleo. would be interested to see if anyone knows more about how the cooking/processing affects the potatos GI, but still doesnt sound like a good diet.
i would imagine it would be more paleo to consume sweet potatoes with butter... still not paleo though.
Any time some diet pops up with a name that combines a single food/food group with the word "diet" you just have to move on. There is never, ever, any sense at all in basing your diet around a single type of food.
BTW - I suggest you try the nothing-but-fried-spam diet. It's the latest and greatest!

The potato diet sound. However, frying them would defeat one of the main purposes of the diet, which is starving out bad (gram-negative) fat digesting bacteria in the gut that are creating toxic pro-inflammatory by products as a part of their metabolism such as Lipopolysaccharides or the bacteria themselves can be inflammatory.
It only takes a few weeks to see a rather large change in bacteria under this diet if followed properly. There are things to consider though in your own personal biology that may make you need to adapt the diet...
1. Nightshade sensitivity. Maybe your okay with potatoes a few times a week but having them as a sole source for weeks and maybe months at a time is a different story. I'd use sweet potatoes or specific Japanese yams (nagaimo) that are low in toxins. You may even want to use squashes like butternut, acorn, and spaghetti.
2. Drink water. Lots of water. Dehydration because of the starches is real and could be dangerous. Half your body weight in ounces of non-fluoridated water should be minimum.
