The question says it all. I get fish burps from fish oil but not from krill oil. The krill oil in my store is very expensive though so I thought I would get some fish oil and hope for the best since I am low on funds at the moment. Does anyone know how to reduce fish burps? I had a meal of steak and broccoli and took a fish oil pill and got burps. Although they were somewhat mild, it is pretty gross

2 Methods I've found to prevent fish oil burps: 1.) Buy enteric covered fish oil capsules (an example here: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/fish.html). I've been using ON's version of fish oil off and on and I've noticed I NEVER burp with these. 2.) Take your fish oil first before your meal, and then eat and drink immediately aftewards. In essence, this "buries" the fish oil in your stomach. This has worked for me as well. |

Refrigerating your fish oil supplements helps many eliminate fish burps. May help keep your supplement fresh longer too. Many fish oil supplements add lemon oil and other similar ingredients to flavor the fish oil. Therefore, if you do get a burp it doesn't taste as bad. One brand that does this is Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega. |

Make sure they are fresh and keep in refrigerator or freezer! I've always read that as long as the oils are fresh you won't get burps....and that sure has been my experience! When you buy a new bottle cut one open and smell or taste it. If it's fishy smelling/tasting, return the bottle! Keeping them in the freezer helps them stay fresh longer. |

I used to get burps off minimal doses... then I started using enteric coated capsules and keep them refrigerated - haven't had a fishy burp since then. |

I take Carson's liquid Fish oil and never have fish burps - in fact I just took 3 tablespoons and had some water and forced myself to burp and no fish!!! (I'm sure that was TMI) I use to take the coated caps and keep them in the refrigerator and would still get burps. PS I buy from Amazon - it is a lot cheaper. |

I have found that taking the actual oil rather than caplets is the way to go. I take a tablespoon of Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega 3 lemon flavor every day with a meal. With the flavoring its totally not as gross as you might imagine. Some people aren't into swallowing oil, but you get used to it. It helps to take the oil with more fat for absorption so eat some bacon or something with it. Also I used to get the worst fish burps from Salmon caps. Avoid. |

I get those, too! I usually will just take them with dinner, when I don't mind the taste of fish. I just pretend I had fish for dinner, ha ha. And of course, if I eat fish, I don't eat fish pills. I also don't take them every day. Can't remember stuff like that. But now I know to put them in the fridge! Thanks, everyone! |
