At what amount or ratio does protein start to become an issue? What are the optimal numbers?
Right now I'm about 150-180g protein a day as a 25-30% macro.
Well, I'm no expert on paleo, but coming from the fitness side I don't think 180-200 gr protein is too much. usually started my diets at 180 gr/day and I'm a girl. When dropping of I cut carbs and protein a long the way but never had less than 75 gr fat a day and I never went below 120 gr protein a day.
Too much is just a problem if you have kidney issues. Since protein increase uric acid production and uric acid is filtered trough the kidneys. For normal and strong kidneys it's not a problem, but if you have week kindeys it's not very good.
I'm doing about 250g of protein a day but I'm planning on reducing it to see how I go. It's just so easy to get 250g of protein per day and the only way to reduce it is to reduce meat consumption (in my case).
