With questions and answers, you can simply click the upvote arrow again and it reverses it.

Is there an option to do that with comments?

Cmon, Brad. You could say that about lots of things. – Jack Kronk Jul 7 2011 at 22:03

You could try the nuclear strategy: bribe a moderator to just erase the comment. – Paul Jul 7 2011 at 22:39

Well there are only six people who can erase my comment, Arlokk. There are seven who can erase yours ... – Paul Jul 8 2011 at 4:29

It doesn't appear that there is. Interestingly, it also removes the ability to flag the comment and it doesn't use any of the daily upvotes you have for questions/answers. Comment upvotes may be unlimited.

Comment voting doesn't seem to be of particular importance, as I don't think it influences reputation. It is only important if the comment is close to ten upvotes, to count towards the Pundit badge, which no one has yet received. It might get that comment read more, but that's about it.

It seems like the best reaction is: "Oops. Oh well."

Yah but the comments are very valuable, and the voting is sorta like a stamp of approval. In a way, it the voice of the paleohacks community almost as much as the questions/answer voting that affects reputation. When you see a comment with like 13 upvotes, you know that a lot of people agree with what the author was saying. Either that of they just really liked the comment for whatever reason. – Jack Kronk Jul 7 2011 at 22:00
True, but you aren't upvoting it 13 times, just once. I'll read the +13 comment, but not necessarily the +1. – Arlokk Jul 7 2011 at 22:17

I'll read any upvoted comment. SOMEONE thought it was important. – Sara Jul 8 2011 at 0:11
