This is my first post and I appreciate any help!
I have been sedentary most of my life. I am a 28 yr old male. 235 lbs, 5'8".
I started a crossfit workout and went paleo in the beginning of October (I weighed 255 then).
At this time, i had a total cholestoral of 402 and trigs in the mid 500's.
I just had an advanced lipid panel done, and I am now a total of 121. HDL is 34, LDL breakdown of A. 63 and B. 24. My trigs are 133.
These seem much better, but i am not sure.
I still am having problems with blood pressure. I am on 2 cholestorol meds and 2 blood pressure meds. cholesterol (fenofibrate and pravastatin) blood pressure (HCTZ and Metoprolol xr).
I am doing 5 WOD's per week at my local box. working hard.
My biggest thing is the blood pressure. It will spike above 200 in no time.
any help is greatly appreciated!
I'm guessing 200 is your systolic BP, which can be classified as a medical emergency as "severe hypertensive crisis". (If that was your diastolic, 200 is ridiculously high.) What's the other number in your blood pressure reading?
With that high of blood pressure, crossfit-style workouts seem extremely contraindicated.

4 is a lot, i agree. And yes, 200 is systolic.
One thing to remember is everyone is different, there is no 'normal' just an average. Mine runs high when excercising...excercise hypertension. My diastolic is running about 140ish when pushing the 200 on systolic.
I would agree that crossfit style workouts do seem a bit over-do, but they are scaled...
Not to throw caution to the wind or anything but yeah, everyone is different. Here's to anecdotal evidence:
I don't remember the exact numbers (well above 200 at times) but my dad has been in the hospital with crazy high blood pressure like 9 times, each of which, by conventional wisdom, should have killed him without delay. As far as the doctors are concerned it's a miracle. He's doing a lot better these days. Still has some blood pressure problems...
Just saying, if you don't feel like you're about to pop out of your own skull, just be cautions and keep working at it. The numbers are just for reference and you might not be on your death bed.
I check it daily if not twice daily.
Mine does not run 200 normally, please understand that. My normal resting blood pressure (medicated) is in the 115-130 / 80-90 range. It is only after extreme physical exertion that it would spike to 200.
