I am a 23 year old female starting my 2nd water fast of my life. I have paleo now for about a year, and a few years ago I did a 10 day water fast and I really loved it; I noticed that I felt a lot healthier afterwards. However it's been quite a few years since my last one (4-5 years) and I am wondering if anyone out there is water fasting right now, or has some recent advice on how it went for them? Did they feel a lot more cleansed afterwards? Did you "re-set" your apetitte? Did you lose a lot of excess weight? Did you have energy?
Thanks so much for your help! I am hoping to do a 7-day fast since that's the upper recommended limit I believe, but I would do 3 days only if it started to feel abnormally awful!
I usually fast from friday evening after my last meal to sunday around 6. I do a HIIT session and then eat a big meal. I IF every day of the week other wise.
What water do you guys use when fasting? I've been using RO water with himilayan sea salt(everywhere from a slight pinch to enough to mimic sodium content of various mineral waters[about 1.5 tsp/5 gal]).
Why not? If you are healthy and in tune with your body, I don't see why you could not try. What's more you already did a 10-days water fast and had a good experience with that. You are young and apparently have no heath issues.
It's a wise idea to begin with a 3-days fast and see what's happening before going further. If you feel it's too hard to only drink water you could have broths (vegetable or bone broths) and/or juices if you like them. You may add some herbal infusions to help your organs in the detox process.
I did a few 5-days and 7-days strict water fasts in the past, I had absolutely no energy drops, no fatigue. And hunger disappeared quickly. On the contrary I had more energy and clarity of mind and I felt a deeper connection with my body. I never had weight issues and didn't notice much difference during a fast (maybe because my focus was not there). For the appetite, it regulates itself naturally because of this deeper connection to the body, during and after. Btw I am a 27-years-old female.
I know lots of people here are not comfortable with the idea of fasting for an extended period. And I would not say that everyone should try. But I found for myself that these type of fasting had a huge impact on my wellbeing and helped me reconciliate my body and mind. Much more powerful than meditation in my case!
