I've been doing the 30 day challenge for a week now, 5 days. I'm loving how I feel but craving carbs a bit, no biggie though, I can get past that. Last night I went out for a friends birthday and overindulged in the alcohol a bit (I know that's not the best Paleo move, but I'm 24, life is short and I'm not going to miss out on social events) Well, I woke up this morning to an empty Dominos box. Apparently I came home from the bar, walked to the Dominos down the street and ordered a $5.99 pizza and proceeded to eat the ENTIRE pizza. I've never done that before! My roommate said I was just gushing about how absolutely delicious it was, so I'm glad I at least enjoyed it. While it wasn't the best move, I'm not beating myself up about it. I actually think its really funny that I sat at Dominos alone in my cute party dress to get that pizza and then devour it. I just hope it makes its way through my system quickly. I guess my subconscious was craving carbs/shitty food more than I realized! I'm back on the Paleo wagon though. Has anyone else gone totally crazy and consumed a ridiculous amount of shitty, processed food?

I remember burning my tongue on the hot cheese and woke up to the faint taste of fake, cheap garlic flavoring so I think it definitely happened. – Lauren Jul 9 2011 at 14:30

Blacking out is a little more than going out and having a good time. – Marie Jul 9 2011 at 16:00

Upvote for not posting an "I ate a whole pizza, how soon can I expect to die?" question. – Olivia Jul 9 2011 at 16:47

You could just reframe your dietary experiment, and instead of doing the 30 challenge, do the whole Tim Ferris cheat day thing once a week. Paleo all week, whatever you want one day a week. It kind of looked like a controlled eating disorder to me, but, whatever works. I'm a little worried about your blacking out, I used to drink A LOT when I was younger, but never blacked out for more than a moment or two. Might want to switch it up with some non-boozy beverage every other drink before someone drags you back to their cave. – Happy Now Jul 9 2011 at 21:25

Every so often my office orders in traditional Chicago deep dish pizza. I partake, fully knowing I'll regret it later. But to make it worthwhile, I stuff myself silly with it.

Go big or go home, I always say.

That's a kind of funny story but you know, if you're really craving carbs, you CAN eat more carbs on paleo. Just not Dominos pizza :)

I've just finished my 30 day challenge (Robb Wolf's Paleo Solution) and feel great. I'm 20 years old and have noticed big improvements in my lifting, general fitness and performance levels in various sports (mainly stamina and power for football (Soccer for you US folks)).

I mainly just wanted to let you know that these odd cheats and urges are going to come up, specially at our age with the constant socialising going on. But learn to resist them - find so called treats that fall into the Paleo bracket instead.

Either way i just wanted to say - stick with it, you'll reap the benefits and feel great for it.

Good luck!

Thanks! It is hard when you're going out and socializing a lot. I'll have to stock a couple healthier "cheats" – Lauren Jul 9 2011 at 20:12
Upvoted because of the term football ;-D – Efaitch Jul 9 2011 at 21:35

kind of funny!! but makes me wonder what else you were up to!!

I guess you now know how easily you fall off the wagon when over indulging!

Haha, I've done the same thing. Except for pizza it was some tiny, but popular, hot dog shop on the beach. Guess I devoured numerous fully loaded hotdogs, buns included. I felt fine the next day. No bad reaction, my strength didn't drop, my stomach didn't explode, I didn't generate some weird disease either.

I with you. I'm not gonna sit in my house and shield myself from society and fun. Life is too short and unpredictable. I'm gonna go out and explore, see the world, and occasionally partake in a drinkin' rally. As I get older things might change, but for now I don't see a need.

I follow paleo pretty strict. Cook all my own meals. Def don't do any gluten. Will drink raw milk though when available. I don't have any allergies to milk or gluten. I just choose not to consume them b/c I am very active, workout a lot, and like to maintain my health.

I say continue to rock on, eat paleo, stay active, and don't beat yourself up about one fun night of non paleo activities here and there.
